I had heard about this place and had to try it, after hearing about the experience.
When you open the doors to Koko, you are teased with the fresh aroma of chocolate. As I started to drool my way to counter, and met the very friendly staff who definitely greeted me warmly. I was in heaven and think I forgot my name at this point, and decided to order the Vanilla hot chocolate in milk chocolate. I was in a trance as I handed over the money, and didn't have to wait to long to indulge my taste buds. My Hot chocolate came in this large mug, with my first taste the chocolate was incredible, got better with each sip, making my taste buds dance. I wanted to lick the cup, but that would be rude, or maybe not..grin!!
I love Koko, I found my new home, its a great place to indulge your taste buds.
As reality did come back to me, the prices are moderately high for your hot chocolate or dessert. I paid $4.50 and dessert & chocolates are priced according to what you like to enjoy. If you want to indulge, this is the place, thank god, they're nowhere near me or I would be here way too much.
Enjoy it everyone. Its a culinary experience.

Mrs. C and I were out in the West End strolling in the -4, and looking for a place to warm up. I remembered that KK had recently opened, and we went in to have a look. The place has an ambience somewhere between Starbucks and Willie Wonka with the big vats of churning chocolate and the kitschy junk for sale. They also have some pretty but pricey chocolates, like I saw once in Belgium.

We couldn’t decide what to have, but I recalled that a respected reviewer had mentioned the Mexican chocolate, so we gave it a try. A little pricey for $4.73 (w/tax) plus a buck tip since they were new, made it an expensive cuppa choco.

As for taste, it was hot in both senses. I think I liked it, but it was ‘different’, so I will have to think more about the experience. Mrs. C said it was too spicy for her, especially since we had satay for dinner. The staff were super nice, and I wish them well, but with the high prices, I can’t give 4 stars overall.

Something different :)

This place already seems to have an obcessed fan base. We were approached by a total stranger on the Seawall and told to go there. Clearly there's something in the chocolate. I had the Mexican- and my other had the regular hot chocolate. Both wonderful. My version took me back to another time when chocolate wasn't necessarily a confection but a means of staving off hunger and providing energy: spicy with nutmeg and cinnamon. Other's was more of what we're used to but also very good. Ordered a couple chocolates and they were a good accompaniment, but not great like that Venezuelan chocolate joint in Yaletown makes. Nice vibe and decent service. I wonder what they'll serve in the summer?

Just open the door and follow your nose! When I first visited this place, I wasn't sure if I have to order first or sit down and wait for someone to serve me. After observing other customers, I realized that we have to order first like any other coffee shop.
They have a nice selection of hot chocolate and desserts. We just had dinner so we decided on ordering some dessert. We ordered this Choco Mudslide and it was huge for 2 person! Ideally it should be shared between 3-4 ppl. It's a warm chocolate cake with a bunch of sweets on top such as toffee, chocolate syrup, ice-cream and marshmallow. It was very good! But a little on the sweet side. I would prefer more ice-cream though. It was about $12-13. I think it's worth it since I don't do dessert often.
It's a small place, probably only 3-4 tables and a few seats around the cashier.

I walked by this place before it first opened a few weeks ago. They were still putting on some window treatment and I didn't think they were open yet. So needless to say, I was excited about going last night.
I would say it's perfect for a chilly night, like we've been having lately. They serve you hot chocolate in neat little "Hug Mugs". You cradle the little cups in your hands warming them up as you sip.

I had the Mexican hot choco and my bf had the Scandinavian hot choco. Both were exellent. You have a choice between white or milk chocolate with your bevie, which are churning in vats as they greet you when you walk in.

The interior is gorgeous, but they have very limited seating - only 3 tables and the rest are bar seating.

They also already have Koko merchandise like cups and mugs and fondue pots. Too bad the "hug mugs" aren't for sale.

Prices are a little steep for a small cup of cocoa ($4.50), but I fully expected it before going.

Hand dipped chocolates to die for.

Well done Koko !!!!!!
We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in through the large wooden door...two large chocolcate turbines pumping chocolate to the bar... the old style fir wood floors, beautiful solid fir bar and fir beams. The lighting compliments the wood giving off a very warm pleasing atmosphere...filled with character...a real west coast feeling.
The desserts and chocolates are all made on sight...fresh everyday. The brownies and monkey bread are to die for. My favorite chocolate is the lemon mint...unbelievable flavors explode in your mouth...all made with natural ingredients.
Our latte's were out of this world...they use 49 th parallel coffee and know how to make a latte. I normally need to add sugar with my coffe but he told me to try it without...he was right...the milk was steamed properly and made the latte sweet.
We are very happy to have such a high quality cafe in the west end.
ps...they have free samples for tasting

Warm and Creamy
I've had the French Vanilla Milk Chocolate to go many many times.
Despite the small proportion, a cup of it was just enough.

But a couple of ones I've had the past week...were really bland :S
Tasted like Warm milk..

So i went to Blenz afterwork to try the so called new "belgian hot chocolate"
it was just as good for less price and bigger proportion.

Koko is still my hg but.. I'll decide whether to stick to it or not next time.

really, the best hot chocolate there is, the traditional hot chocolate is rich and thick, really good desserts- brownie, molten cake, pleasant ambiance, great service, a good place to go to cap a meal with something sweet.
