Ki-Isu Japanese restaurant is popular sushi place.
I was walking in Yaletown, wanting to have sushi, when I spotted this place. The reviews after I tried this place, are accurate, and was impressed with this location.
I was greeted by a friendly server, who walked with me to my table, and handed me the menu. The music was great, nice to listen to jazz, and like the patrons that either ate in or pick up their sushi. Its not a large place to eat, organized, and clean from what I could tell.
I ordered 2 Salmon, 2 Tuna nigiri, 2 ebi with avacado roll. The salmon, tuna, ebi had lots of flavour, cold, fresh and loved the taste. I was impressed with the avacado roll and wish I could order more, but I was full. My meal with my soft drink came to $12.00, before tip, and I felt it was worth the price.
When I'm wanting sushi in Yaletown, I plan to return. Highly recommend when you're in the area. Will be back.
We moved into the neighborhood and as very regular sushi/sashimi eaters we had to find a local restaurant. After a few failures we came across this place. The sashimi is delicious and we have not found a single dud on the menu. The service is always quick and friendly. We usually only eat outside as the inside of the place can be quite hot and greasy - as it is nearing winter we will have to move inside - but it is worth having to be a little warm for the quality of the food. The price is reasonable, especially for the liquor and rolls. I would recommend this place over and over and personally eat here about 3 times a week.
Recently we had lunch at Ki-Isu and were very impressed with the excellent sushi lunch we had. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious. In a city with good sushi places almost everywhere, it's great to have a place in our neighborhood that stands out for a reasonable price.
This small sushi restaurant found in corner of yaletown is def a hidden gem. Everytime I walk in, I am greeted by friendly faces of the servers. I believe the owners are Korean and so are the servers? There is not one item on menu that isn't good, but if you want to try their best items, best stick to nigiri sushi, sashimi and rolls. Their nigiri sushi and sashimi is super fresh and you can taste it. They are good in terms of size ( it's not too small, it's not too disgustingly big like some sushi places) and flavor. I especially love toro and hamachi, it just melts in your mouth! Their crazy dragon roll and salmon mango rolls are great as well. The special rolls are a little expensive around $10, but the portions are huge! however, if you want to try few different rolls, half orders are availiable. Their chicken karaage is pretty interesting, with the special soy sauce and udon is quite good as well. Anything on their menu, you won't be disappointed! Ever since I found this place, I've been going at least twice a week.....it's def a keeper!!
Near Urban Fare on Pacific is this hole in the wall fresh sushi place. Unlike a nearby competitor, this place greets you with friendly face and is courteous throughout the lunch service. Prices are not cheap but by no means expensive. Their takeout specials are mostly below $10, but if you eat-in for lunch, you spend about $40 for 2 incl. tip but without alcohol. The portions are above average and they have a few surprising specials on the menu. The food is fresh and the atmosphere cosy. The interior is a bit dated and worn though. Also cleaning around the banquet seats, floor and windows would maybe improve things. Otherwise, solid performance. I'll return.
This restaurant is listed in the $10.00 range on this site, but I think it needs to be increased.
Last time my husband and I ate there, the bill was over $50.00. That seems high to me for a neighbourhood sushi place.
Food is good, high quality. Service fairly quick.
Been to this place several times and keep on coming back. There rolls are made with fresh fish that tast increadible. When you go there you have to try there Special Rolls. Such as there Ki-isu combo it is must try. But, if you do I would suggest getting another side roll with it for might be not filling enough for you. As well eating in this place is very popular take out place for the local area.
