The Keefer Bar has an intricately designed cocktail program focused on Apothecary style drinks created to soothe ailments and balance one’s mood. Ingredients for the Asian influenced small plated food and specially crafted drinks are sourced from local Chinatown markets and herbalists.
Went to The Keefer Bar with my boyfriend specifically to watch Sweet Soul Burlesque.
Upon entering the bar we were warmly greeted & we're given a table right in front of the stage (which is also right by the entry door). The place was dimmly lit & packed. We loved the atmosphere & decor. Eventhough 1 waitress took our drink order, another waitress & the hostess made sure we were ok for drinks etc. The shrimp spring rolls, eventhough you only get 3, were so delicious! The BBQ pork pizza was great too! They have a few speciality shots 4 for $20.
I would definately go back to try the other drinks.
The Keefer is a new bar in Chinatown in an old building that has been extensively renovated. The bar is long and narrow and has a cosy feel. The drinks list is short with many classic cocktails tweaked to reflect the location in Chinatown. The Martinez and the Fizz are excellent. The staff is great, friendly and helpful, and the music selection is outstanding. The food list is very short, thus the rating. A great place for drinks before or after a meal somewhere else.
Loved the room and decor! It has a funky appeal, long narrow and not too big. Went with a friend and had a couple cocktails and one of each of the appies. (There are only 5) They infuse their water with cinamon sticks, which at first glance seemed pretty neat, however didn't work for me. Their cocktails are really good. Would like to see more wine on their list. Had to wonder why our food took so long with only 5 items on the menu and ten other paeople there, but when it arrived, it was solid. My favorite was the pot stickers. Now I understand that they are a "bar" and I haven't been there to check out the late night scene yet, but I do wish they had a bit more variety on their food menu if they are going to offer it. Would return again if they did. All in all, I wouldn't avoid it, but wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
Let me start off by saying that the manager of this establishment should be fired immediately. My girlfriends and I went out on the town tonite specifically to check out the Keefer Bar. We had all heard good things about this boutique bar and were excited to try out their cocktails. To our dismay we encountered one of the rudest managers ever... I had ordered the Keefer Fizz, unfortunately as a result of my own taste buds I did not care for this drink and so I made a request to the manager to try something else (keeping in mind that I fully intended to pay for the Keefer Fizz). Well I must have hurt his ego as he became extremely defensive and proceeded to lecture me on how this drink was one of their most popular drinks on the menu. Thanks but if I wanted to get a lecture I'd sign up for your community college class entitled "How to lose a customer for being rude and obnoxious all at the same time". My girlfriends and I will never go back ever again so long as this person is still working there, talk about turn off!
