Joey's Broadway combines home-style Mediterranean cuisine with new and exotic tastes from the Orient.
Always good, attentive service - and yes the gorgeous waitstaff is hired for attraction plus their waiting-talents. They should be proud of themselves then. The food is really decent, considering you're really going there for the atmosphere and location. I really loved their mushroom cheeseburger which was custom. The fries are skinny and sometimes hot, sometimes not. Ask for more ketchup if you're a ketchup fan because they give you a little tiny cup of ketchup instead of a bottle. The alcoholic beverages are strong and yummy. grilled cheese really good too, but not very filling. Great place for a group celebreation. I am into skinny beautiful women so.
This place does everything right from the moment you walk in. You're greeted by people who are enthusiastic about making a good first impression, and they continue to attend to you throughout the evening. They have the skill and knowledge to make suggestions, without coming across fake or overly trained. It makes for an interesting ambiance, with smiling waitresses and waiters moving about and lively discussion at every table. It all feels a little too much at times, and perhaps a bit more intimacy could be encouraged. That said, our server was charismatic and engaging enough to get over being a bit intrusive as we ate and talked.
The food itself is delicious, and I recommend getting a dish that will let you try the scrumptious crispy mashed potatoes. The salmon is good, so are the pastas and the portions you get represent the price you pay, which will be in the range of 16-25 for a main dish.
Next time you`re looking for a simple night out at a mid-level, Keg or Earls-type restaurant, give Joey`s a try if you haven`t before. It didn`t disappoint me.
I have frequented the Joey's in Coquitlam a couple of times and it has always been a good experience. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for this location. The restaurant looks good and has a warm feel but the food was simply not up to par. The ingredients were fresh but the salads were overdressed. Ahi Tuna was overseasoned. Both other party members had salads and their's were "overed" as well. Atleast it was consistant in that respect. I am sure it was just a blip and I will give it another try when I can't think of anywhere better to go to.
Food: I went here for lunch and I had one of their burgers. I didn't like the 'burnt' taste to it. I know it's grilled..but it was probably grilled for longer than usual. My friends liked their meals though, and the lava cake they ordered looked good.
Service: Attentive service (keep in mind it was Sunday lunch and it was really quiet-only one other table).
Value: Decent. Not cheap, but not overly expensive considering the location.
Ambiance: Nice place!
Went here on a date last week. The patio is upstairs and wow is it awesome! The wall fountain is really cool. Our server wasn't bad but they were really busy. We ordered some drinks which did take a little while to come but again they were busy so we didn't mind. Their appys are totally delish! Although they were very filling so if your thinking you want to have an appy and a main and a desert then you better be hungry for sure! I will totally be going back over and over! Try their tuna. OMG it was to die for! Thanks for the great night.
I hosted an event for my friends going away party here on a Monday evening. Our group consisted of 22 people. I came in earlier at lunch to drop off a specialty suit-case cake and they were more than happy to refridgerate it for me. We sat in the dining lounge by the bar. It wasn't overly busy or crowded because of the Monday :)
Service: The service was top notch, thanks to JIMMY and Dave. We had one picky/finicky/hard to please guest but she was happy with Jimmy. Always had our drinks topped, extra napkins, more sauces on the side and extra plates for sharing appies. Jimmy was so awesome he knew all our names! Well if your gonna charge 18% gratuity then you better know my name! Unlike other places i've been to for large group parties, Joey's doesn't charge for bringing in your own cake or a "cake dispensing fee!"...WTF?! We ordered a blowjob (whip cream and alcohol drink), and they ran out of whip cream, Jimmy was awesome enough to get it from the store next door.
Food: Loved the Earth and Surf Calamari.....soooooooo goooood, loved the Chinatown Chicken Lettuce Wraps. For main entree 4 people and myself got the Lobster Ravioli, mmmmmmm....... I heard the flatbreads, gyoza, salads, and sandwiches were great. A lot of people ordered the Maple Salmon, it was really delicious.
Value: I really don't remember the cost of drinks because we just kept on ordering rounds of petron, apple-pie shots, jaggerbombs, wine...bottles were litally " poppin' " Food was priced okay for high end casual dining, I love cactus club, so I would say that Joey's is definitely more diverse and upscale...Menu and Prices are listed the Joeys' website which is great.
Great atmosphere is apparent as soon as you enter the place. Service was pretty good as well. Food is a little pricey for what you're getting, however I ordered the fish tacos and they were superb. Their tables are bolted to the ground so it may be a bit awkward for larger groups. Note that groups of 8 or larger get 18% gratuity automatically added to their bill.
Sat in the bar/lounge area on a Friday night and had a great food and drinks. It's more casual here and our server was fantastic. Friendly with frequent check ups. Food was very good as they have some lunch items you can order at night. The 1/2 chicken was very good and a large portion.
Great atmosphere for having a few drinks afterwork.
Food: had the Ahi Tuna Salad, tasted good, especially the dressings that came with the salad. Shared a pitcher of bellini, it definitely had a kick! Friends also order salads, and wraps, all were reported good except for the fries which were a bit too salty.
Service: very attentive, but not to the point of being pushy or overbearing. Server made good jokes/conversations with us. The only thing was the sun was in our eyes and it took a while for them to help us fix th problem (moved to another table b/c for some reason, they couldn't fix the blinds or whatever)
Value: actually quite expensive for the portion and quality of food.
Ambiance: relaxed, trendy, comfortable. Just a great place to hang out and catch up with friends over a meal and drinks.
I was curious about this place so I finally get to check it out during dinner time. At 6pm on a Friday the place was packed to maximum. Waited 15mins which is reasonable. Was offered 2 tasters, steak w/ cream sauce on a spoon (yum) & juice cocktail in a shooter cup. I thought that was neat and I was very hungry. This restaurant is huge and the decor is gorgeous, kinda feels like Cactus Club but kicked up 5 notches. We ordered Mushroom Soup, Fish Taco, Lobster Ravioli and something like a Cali Roll wrapped w/ crispy wonton shell. The soup was soooooo salty that a Tropical fish would swim in it. The Cali thing was a good idea but it didn't meet my expectations. The Fish Taco which the server recommended, was just as salty. My tongue was practically numb by then. If I was craving for salty food, I can just buy myself a bag of chips but this is just too gross. Ok, as for the Lobster Ravioli, what could go wrong w/ Lobster? Well...there isn't anything wrong but it was kinda bland. Couldn't really taste the lobster. The pasta sauce wasn't flavorful at all. Overall, my food experience at Joey's wasn't as good as I hoped for. I wouldn't go again unless it's a bday party.
I came here with 7 other girls one night and was surprised to find out they had absolutely no tables to accomodate more than 4-6 people. Do they not serve big parties? At first we were seated at two booths side by side separated by a 3ft gap. Not wanting to have to yell to be heard, we tried to look for other alternatives. The party area (2 sections) were booked for a party, and the bar area had no big table either. We had two options: sit at the rounded booth with a really small table or take two middle-section tables that are diagonal with each other. We took the second choice. Why would the designer have the tables anchored down?? weird. Still hard to carry conversations, we just pulled our seats out a bit. the ambiance is gorgeous, but the layout of the restaurant sucks.
Service was really good that night. Our server was very accommodating and attentive. Food was average - nothing special. Be sure to try their famous apple pie a la mode.
I would return, but with a smaller crowd.
Went there for a dinner and drinks for a friend's going away party. The restaurant was nicely decorated, the washrooms were amazing and the service was very attentive. We had over 20 people in our group and all of us got our orders correctly and promptly and our server was able to remember our names. Not only did he remember our names, he actually made it a point to come back and ask us during our meal if everything was alright. Our drinks were always refilled and dishes didn't pile up on the table. I thought this was great considering the amount of people in our group. The manager and the owner even came over to ask us how everything was after our meal.
I ordered the yam fries which were crisp on the outside but warm and soft on the inside. The aoli that came with it was delicious too. I was sadly disappointed with the lobster ravioli with lemon dill sauce. Although it came to the table hot and beautifully presented, it didn't taste like anything special to me. It was just ok. i also had a bit of their chicken lettuce wraps. The filling was delicious and nicely seasoned but the it seemed there were more noodles than chicken pieces. I thought it could use a bit more veggies in the filling. I do think though that the prices were fair for the amount of food that you get.
I would go back to Joey's for appetizers and drinks. I don't think I will go for dinner.
We were in town for only a couple of days and ate out several times. This Joey Tomatos was recommended to us not only for its proximity to our hotel but also because we were assured pleasant and beautiful servers are guaranteed. Unfortunately our experience fell short in that regard. First, the food. The food was good with dishes delivering somewhat on the zestiness and tastiness. So many restaurants cook bland food nowadays. Not here. The ambience was mdoern and clean. Clearly, a professional outfit. The waitresses weren't out of the ball park however. The reported cute short dresses were not making an appearance today. Perhaps because it was getting colder and raining (and we were nt using a patio as a result). Either way, very disappointed in this regard. So, it was good but not that good that I would recommend or absolutely return.
One of my favourites. Every time we've been there, it's been a great experience. Wonderful food and service. But it is the Joey ladies that grab my attention. Those legs.. oh the food is great I mean. It is in fact good and cheap and the service is good. have the cajun (I think) cheeseburger and appy with prawns. Recommended!
Came here for dinner with my friend tonite. When I got there, the hostess opened the door for me (there was two of them actually) and they were both very friendly. I waited for my friend in the lobby. We then were seated by our server, it took him about 4 minutes to "explain" our menu to us, (appetizers on this page, mains on this page, desserts on this page etc.) My friend ordered a beer and a burger and I ordered a beer and the club med, (a chicken club). So every two minutes our server would ask us....how's your beer? how's your salad? how's your burger? holy s%#t!!!! give me a break! We couldn't even have a conversation for more than two minutes before this bozo interupted us. Quality check does not mean checking on your table every two f%*king minutes! Besides that, the food was good and everything was fine. I feel sorry for the next table that get's this moron!
Joey's is bar none my favourite chain restaurant. I started coming to this location once they opened on Broadway and have likened the experience each time.
This location offers different areas, the bar/lounge, dining area and the patio upstairs (which I've yet to take advantage of). Chain restaurants are typically quite good (albeit standardized) and this location serves up the same quality regularly with a twist on occasion. The hostesses up front are especially friendly. When it's busy and there's a wait for tables servers bring out appetizers to squash your rumbling stomach as you wait, great for keeping hungry diners happy before they reach their table.
Their menu incorporates asian touches with a couple of notches stepped back for the western palette. Their choices are on par with other chain establishments: appetizers, sandwiches/burgers, steaks, pastas and even butter chicken. All the dishes I've had are consistently good but again nothing really wows my tongue. However it is a big step above other chain restaurants and it's hard to find something to speak negatively about.
Service has been good with each visit. It's nothing over the top but it's consistent and what you'd expect. They're polite and easy to talk to also. Oddly enough when the floor is less bustling with customers the servers don't seem as enthusiastic.
Joey's seems to have found a nice little niche serving dishes with a little fusion twist in a more upscale room with service to spare. I am a little confused as to why so many people use their valet service at a dig like this, however.
I've been to this location a few times now and overall it's been consistently average. The food is okay..something you'd expect from restaurants like Earls..Milestones..etc. The service, however, is somewhat lacking. The last two servers I had while here weren't all that friendly..were missing for much of our dinner..and also quite pushy (felt like we were being rushed out even though it was a Wednesday night and half the restaurant was empty). Despite the average food and the lacking service, the decor of the restaurant is beautiful.
We were very impressed, Very tasty food the service is great and they are very PROFESSIONAL.
They looked after you from the time you arrived to the time you left their restaurant service was amazing and the food was perfect. They called a taxi and even opened the taxi door for us. Very very classy act.
Went there when the first opened. Was impressed with everything. Now that I've been back a few more times. Things are starting to settle down to where they ought to be. The thing about restaurant opening is that so much more effort is put into opening's that eventually complacency sets in at some point.
The menu is a good mix of differnt items. I like this menu over Cactus Crap.
They have a nice set up with dining area, bar area and upstairs heated balcony/patio. The food is standard casual dining fare with an asian flair. I am getting tired of this concept but Joey's menu is never the less inventive enough to keep you interested. The steak are good. again typical cdc. You just hope they dont mess up cooking your food. Menu and kitchen is set up to handle volume and deliver consistently. Hence you wont get great flavour or presentation.
The guest varies but for the most part similar to what you would find at cactus club. 18-35 y olds wannabe trendy. There is valet parking out front, enter from alley in to the restaurant.
I had lunch here today with a friend and the first thing I noticed was the minimalistic design of the building, both exterior and interior. Definitely, this place is aimed at and caters towards the upper, young class citizens and middle aged businessmen. Waitresses were dressed provocatively but also with a conservative undertone where needs be, kind of like telling prospective girl hunters, "You can have me, but before you do, you better be able to bite a bullet or two" - and all in black. Anyways perhaps I was over analyzing the servers at first because passively, this place forces you to since beauty and sex sells and is more eye-catching.
The first thing that I thought was kind of off was the servers did not know where my friend was sitting, since she got there before I did and was already seated. After searching along with the usher for awhile, I gave up. Seeing how the usher looked bedazzled and lost, I let her off the hook and told her I'll look for my friend by myself. Already, for a upper class restaurant, this is a no-no... but not a serious one.
As for food, I'm always finicky when it comes to Western Cooking because, to be flat honest, it boasts more than it can flavor and woe you - especially contemporary Western cooking. This is of course for the majority as I'm a huge fan of traditional worldly cooking, especially French Cuisine. The first thing I noticed was the menu had a scattered selection of East and West. This to me, from my own previous dining out experiences, is normally a bad start because the expertise will be sort of diluted and spread thin. To be on the safe side, since this was a western canadian establishment, I ordered a Lobster Raviole and my friend had a Rotisserie Chicken.
First the bad. I had a taste of my friend's dish and at nearly $20, the chicken was dry, bland, and mediocre. steamed beets and some other bland vegetables hardly made my flavor buds jump in joy.
The good part about this lunch was my lobster raviole, it was actually tasty - but forgettable. Huge pieces of home-made raviole, stuffed with tons of fresh lobster, crab and shrimp and ricotta cheese - each bite was very nice but not amazing. As always, the cream sauce tastes all the same...although it says ' DILL LEMON SAUCE' I couldn't taste the dill and lemon was just sour...maybe it's just me since dill normally has a low flavor to begin with.
I'll admit, my favorite part of both meals combined were my grilled cherry tomatoes and a huge generous slice of crispy garlic bread - yes sad but true...I enjoyed those two items the most.
Servers were busy, mediocre and came around kind of slow. We didn't get asked how our meal was now that I think about it and normally at a restaurant with high pricing, I felt somewhat neglected. Servers, were however, nice and never rude.
I left the place full but definitely with no memories except the girls. WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE GIRLS??? lol...we need more good food so people will stop remembering only the hot servers. Restaurants are so superficial these days...tsk tsk tsk...and same goes for the visitors lol...
