We came here last night with a party of six. I had made reservations the night before, no problem. The problem started on the way down to the restaurant..I called just to confirm our res and at first they couldn't find it! They then said Oh OK we have it. When we arrived (the place was full) they led us out to the patio in back to what can best be described as a decontamination bubble with way to many heaters! My whole party was hesitant to sit, this is not what we wanted. After one of our party made a quick recon to cactus club across the street to secure a better seating, we were finally moved to a decent table (Thanks cactus club btw..next time we will try them out). with that sorted we move on to drinks and appys. I ordered a mojito..wrong!..it had, I kid you not, one sprig of mint which hadn't been even muddled and no sugar. It had NONE of the attributes a mojito should have! Our waitress (who was wonderful btw) offers to take it of the bill. Other drinks around the table were off also..stick to beer/wine at this place! (watery/weak was the consensus, a regular over priced drink here has 1oz of booze, a REAL 2 oz drink, which they list separate, is REALLY over priced. Bad policy in my books)
The food made up for the res and bar-tending being way off Thank goodness! The appys (esp the flat bread) are great and the fish tacos are justifiable famous, same for the sushi. The mains were equally satisfying. I had butter chicken which was a great value/portion and tasty to boot! All the salads, salmon, burger etc were meet with approval too.
The ambiance and decor are most pleasing also, and they look like they do a good job of training their wait staff,
would I come back? probably for the food and decent service but I would avoid peak hours and NOT order anything from the bar. I'm torn about the service rating..the res/seating screw up was huge, but they did recover nicely and were great during the meal.I'll give a solid and see what happens next time.

Joey has been around now for about 20 years. I guess it was a bit of a pioneer in the otherwise wasteland of the downtown when it opened all those years ago. There's no question the room is modern and updated, but the great food and cute service, more than anything give you reason to visit. My wife and I have been going a few years now, I have taken a girlfriend too but I have to say if you go only with your friends you can check out more of their famous ladies. We are constantly amazed that they keep producing such a fine product after all these years. Who knows how much longer they'll be around? On a personal note I'm hoping for a long time to come!

I never had the pleasure of eating at this chain but I just went there last night for dinner and drinks with three friends. plus the hot wait staff (which is always a plus), their dinner menu and wine list was solid. We had the fish and requested rice with mushrooms and it came out better than expected.
As for the hot wait staff, pure glory in short skirts. Who doesn't like good food, good drinks and an engaging waitress that you engage in idle chitchat when they are so attractive? Looks like they are going to be my new favourite chain. Worth the money and tip extra.

Something to expect out of Joey is pretty good food and an above average experience. Out of the bigger chain style restaurants I'd have to say Joey is my favorite.

Had lettuce wraps (wish they had more meat) and were very tasty. Great Calamari and Lobster Ravioli is always great. They were kid friendly as well and had our baby up on a attach seat to the table.

This place caters to all sorts and it should be a hit with most people. I do come back when I can and sometimes a chain is better because you know what to expect. A chain that has great food.

I've been here a few times for work lunches while working downtown and also at night for drinks. During the summer months, the patio is a nice place to enjoy a lunch break. Service has always been good, but the food has been hit or miss for me. One time, I got the soup and salad for lunch. It was all right, nothing memorable except for the fact that there was a bug in my salad. It was was promptly replaced though with an item of my choice.

On my most recent visit, I ordered the scallop and prawn linguine with pesto and it was very spicy. I love spicy food, but this was so spicy it just did not seem to go with the other flavours of the food. The sauce was also a lot heavier than expected.

I've been to the wine bar section on several occasions at night and have quite enjoyed it. There is a good selection by the glass at relatively affordable prices (I think starting around $6) and they change the wine choices every once in awhile.

Overall, it's not a bad place. I'd prefer to come later in the day for drinks and maybe an appy. For lunch, I'd prefer to go across the street to the other similar-type restaurant on Burrard.

when i came here with a buddy on a weeknight, it was packed with people in their work attire to probably get their fix after a long day on the job.
ordered their bacon 'high rise' cheeseburger and i can say it was no understatement. it was loaded with toppings and probably one of the biggest burgers i have eaten. the burger itself was delicious and well worth the money.
our waitress was friendly however it was hard to get solid service because the restaurant was so busy. on a side note (something that did not necessarily apply to our waitress), the one thing i hate about eating at franchise restaurants (i.e. joey's, cactus club, earls, etc.) is how fake the waitresses can be. yes, these restaurants hire the best looking girls in town because its likely they bring more business (and tips) but for me personally, i can care less about how good looking the girl serving me is. pretentious service is one of my biggest pet peeves as a diner so that is why i tend to stay away from these type of places.
the prices on the menu are not steep, average prices for restaurants that fall in this category. my burger was $14 and i was quite content after it so no complaints there.
very loud bar atmosphere which is expected for a restaurant like this. the place looks excellent in terms of design and the actual layout of the restaurant so have to give them extra points here.
i could see myself returning here for late night drinks because its very accessible and right in the downtown core. also a great place to mingle and chill with friends and co-workers. overall, solid restaurant with no real flaws.

Joey was very busy for dinner last night even though I don't consider the location to be very central or easily discoverable. I suppose people aim to come here. Perhaps it has something to do with the staff. They hire the prettiest girls ever. That can't hurt of course, but how was the food? It was great. We had tuna tacos, prawn and steak and stuck with ice tea. They were all good. Service was prompt and served with a smile. I always tip a full 15% before tax for perfect service and they got 15% from me.

The new Joey's in Bentall One is a half-step from a men's club. Needless to say, it's target market will not be reading this review and will not care...but if you are interested in good service, value and interesting food take note. You will not find it here.

The service staff is clad in, well, not much. The management at Joey's seems to have taken a cue from Cactus Club's hiring polices, and then upped the ante a bit. Tada! Trash, just trash. I'm sorry, but I'm really not interested in cleavage with my clubhouse sandwich. However, there are seemingly lots of downtown men who are...

As if it is not bad enough that the service staff is dressed to thrill, they don't really seem to know the menu that well, are not poised to make recommendations (duh? what?) and are certainly not experienced servers. Wanting a fairly substantial meal, I mistakenly asked my waitress if the $15.99 salmon salad was suitable as a meal or if it was small. She replied that it was filling and substantial...imagine my surprise when I received two potatoes, a 6 oz filet of salmon, a couple beans, a few leaves of arugula and a clump of mayo. Hardly substantial enough for a meal...well perhaps I should have considered the source of the recommendation....and hardly worth the $15.99 tag. My girlfriend ordered the beef deep, and it was a pretty sorry sight as well.

Overall, this is a big zero out of ten. I will never be back. There are two many great places to grab a lunch downtown (look no further than Gastown for evidence).
