Joey's Broadway combines home-style Mediterranean cuisine with new and exotic tastes from the Orient.
I have been going to Joey's when it was in POCO and still in Coq. My experience with this location is that the food, prices and decor are okay. For us, it's the waitresses that have been the downfall with our experience here. One time, the waitress didn't want to give us our change; she wanted to keep it as her tip. She asked us if we wanted change and we definitely said yes. We really didn't want to give her a $10 tip when our bill was only $30. Another time, our waitress was spending alot time at another table, flirting away, when we needed some service. I don't know if the restaurant encourages the staff to hustle for tips but it looks very unprofessional.
We went to Joey's on a Thursday night, not too busy, not empty either. The host at front was very friendly, although we didn't recognize her as the host at first. Atmosphere was right, music was not too loud. Food! we ordered the California Sushi Taco, Blazing Wings and Roasted Chicken Pesto Quesadilla. All of them were awesome. Fries was different, but very tasty. All were nicely presented. and I loved the bill at the end, not big at all. We all agree that we will definitely go there again soon.
Last week I posted a review on The Rugby club and how bad the service was on my boyfriends birthday last year. This year I decided to change it up and take 10 people to Joey's as I had heard alot about it and I was pleasently suprised.
The only thing I really had a problem with is that they don't take reservations, even for a big party. Is this all the time or just on weekends? I knew this going in as I had called ahead so most of us showed up about 45 minutes before we would really get hungry. From the minute we walked in the door they were very attentive, offering us seats at the bar and apologizing for the wait even though we weren't impatient.
I agree that it does take some time for food to show up, but for a party atmosphere it was just right and it gave us time to talk and sip our delicious drinks. In terms of apitizers I recommend the homous and pita (thoug the homous is slightly chunky), dry ribs or the artichoke and crab dip its the best stuff I ever tasted.
I was amazed that our waitresses would even pick up the glases to wipe up the wet spots on the table every 10 minutes or so, thats dedication to service.
For dinner my boyfriend had a steak and he said it was good, probably just under the Keg. I had the Evil Drunken Jungle salad and it was very good, but a warning they didnt tell me, it is fairly spicy, but with the huge chunks of mango it was a winner.
Then, and this is what I appriciated when I was arraning for a cake to come out for my boyfriends birthday they were very slick and came out with three or four waitresses singing "happy birthday" (something the Rugby club refused to do)
All in all I would come back again, and if you expect fast service come early in the evening as it is not their fault that it gets packed fast
Every World Class City has its own sexy resto and Vancouver is no exception. But seriously, this is a place where food could become an afterthought and you would come here for one thing only, yep, the 'scenery.' But the food is good.
All the basics of pub grub are covered, with hot greasy wings, cold beer, flat screen TVs and hot waitresses in tight outfits. Excellent!
Great view of the area and the place rocks at night.
Bf and I went last week. You can never go wrong with their pastas or pizzas which we normally order with drinks. Place was packed but we were seated promptly enough so it wasn't bad at all. It's worth it regardless as you can always count on them as a place with good food and drinks. Good place to hang out with friends for sure.
I thought the food was very yummy and the drink selection fantastic but have to say the service was somewhat lacking. Took forever to get our drinks as well as our food. Price wise what you would expect for Vancouver but don't come here if you are in a hurry to get to a show or game afterwards - an hour and 20 minuetes for appys and drinks a little crazy!
I went to Joey's last week and it was a pretty good experience.
The wait was about 10mins even though were was barely anyone else in the restaurant at that time. The entry greater said the hostess was in the dining section and would be with us shortly. Besides that, everything else was perfect.
Out server was very helpful and polite.
My boyfriend and I ordered the N.Y steak, salad, and california taco api. The food came promptly and was very tasty. The steak was perfectly cooked, and was very tasty.
The decor was very nice. The dining area was very elegant and nicely presented. The washroom was also very nicely designed.
Overall, we enjoyed the restaurant very much.
Went there on a thursday night and there was a 20 minute wait..no problem, we just found seats in the bar. About 15 minutes later we had to flad someone down and ask if we could order and they couldnt figure out who are server is, once she showed up there was no "sorry took me so long" she seemed like she had just started working there ie. had no idea how to be a server, when we asked her she said she had been there since the orignal Joey's opened up....boy were we surprised
We had absolutely no complaints with the food...however my fries we rubbery, but they brought out a new batch and that was fixed...crab and arti dip were great
service was HORRIBLE! cactus club's service Rocks comapered to joeys, even earls and moxie's service was better...bad service really puts a damper on the whole evening
I had such high hopes for this place! After dining at Joey Tomato's in Coquitlam many times, I figured that this restaurant would be good, if not better than the one in Coquitlam. How wrong I was!
The ambience was alright, it is actually a good looking building and the inside is typical of Joey's Coquitlam, and the men's washrooms had something very different inside it, which makes it memorable.
The food: I decided to order a dish that I have ordered at Joey's in Coquitlam before, the Maple Glazed Salmon. First of all, the presentation looked bad as it was placed in front of me. It took away from the meal a bit, but I thought that would be fine, as long as the food was good. The food wasn't good. The salmon was overcooked, not at all moist, the pasta was okay, and the seasonal vegetables, in this case, carrots, were almost raw. For $20, I expect my vegetables to be completely cooked, my pasta to be better than just okay, and my salmon to be properly cooked and moist with a nice presentation. I didn't think that's too much to ask! No problems like that at Joey’s Coquitlam.
The service: I'll admit the service seemed to be okay at the beginning, because we were taking forever on what to order. However, after ordering a round of waters and I having a Coke, we were never asked once if we wanted a refill. At Joey's Coquitlam, we never had to ask, it was just there!
Overall: I would give the overall rating a 2; however, I don't think this dining experience was at all "Decent". The 1 rating, and the "Poor" attachment, more reflects my disappointment, to what I thought was going to be another great meal, by a great restaurant. I will certainly be making the drive to Coquitlam to have a good Joey's meal and I hope Joey's Coquitlam can restore my confidence in their fine brand! If you want culinary excellence, make the trip to Joey’s Coquitlam, for Joey's Broadway, is a culinary disappointment and failure.
