The Jewel of India serves tandoori clay-oven and vegetarian dishes. Restaurant has a sidewalk patio.
The food is excellent. In particular the Chicken Korma and Saag Paneer are some of the best in Vancouver. if you want the resaurant to yourself eat in at Jewel. The ambience is lacking but the interior is clean and simple.
I would compare Jewel of India to Akbar's Own - though less busy, and without any ambiance. They have some of the best Indian food in town. Their Chicken Korma is to die for. Although I often wonder how they stay in business, I hope they do. It's a great place to order take-out from if you live or work in Gastown.
