Jethro's is an eatery on the west side serving breakfast fare including giant pancakes with nothing on the menu over $12.
Came here with a friend today.....she had the crab eggs benny (???) and I had a burger and fries and we shared a short stack pancakes.....The food was amazingly delicious.....pancakes were *HUGE* and flavourful, the hanburger was a little bit small, but it tasted great.... she told me that her food was good too..... I want to come back soon...Just wish it wasn't filled with noisy patrons (you would think you were at a rock concert or something)
Wasn't too impressed with service. It definatly could had been better.
I live in the area and was thrilled when I heard about Jethro's as a great place for breakfast. I've come here once for breakfast and once for lunch. When I was there for lunch with my friend I ordered the Chocolate-Chip Banana Bread French Toast, and I think my friend ordered the Chicken Fried Stake. Admitedly it was my fault for ordering a sweet dish for lunch, but wow! It just tasted like a plate of sugar. Wouldn't order it again. My friend is very particular with her food, but said that the gravy that came with her meal was good, and she ate a decent amount for being a tiny person. The only real downside of the experience was that the hostess/owner who greeted us was a little abrasive. I get she's probably haggared from opening up her own business, but no need to give customers attitude. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. Luckily our server was a very sweet woman who's customer service was obviously better practised.
When my husband and I came here for breakfast I order the banana pancakes (Nana Cakes -giant!) and he order the Cowboys Breakfast. My pancake was raw in the middle and the sausage and chorizo that came with my husbands order was also severely under cooked to the point where he couldn't eat it. There were only 3 other patrons in the restaurant so it didn't make sense for the cook to rush our meal before it was properly cooked. The other thing that ticked me off was the service. The hostess/owner was very abrasive again (same woman). If she lived in New York perhaps this sort of attitude would be expected, but I don't take sarcasm and sneering well early in the morning.
Perhaps I'm a tad masocistic, but I wanted to give this place a third go. It's so conveniently located that I really wanted my third (and ultimately last) experience to be positive. It was a cold wintery day and so my friend and I decided to stop there for lunch. As usual there was a huge line up (keep in mind the restaurant is small so if you're going to wait for a table you'll be waiting outside). We opened the door and stuck out heads in to ask about wait times. The same hostess came angrily rushing up to us saying "Keep the door closed! Je$^$ Ch%^& I feel like a broken record!" At that point I had had enough. We left and went somewhere else for lunch.
I have no idea why this place is so busy all the time. I have never had a good experience here and have been warning people off of going here. If you want friendly service and a decent breakfast go to White Spot on West Blvd!
