Terrific food, but way too noisy

Came here with a friend today.....she had the crab eggs benny (???) and I had a burger and fries and we shared a short stack pancakes.....The food was amazingly delicious.....pancakes were *HUGE* and flavourful, the hanburger was a little bit small, but it tasted great.... she told me that her food was good too..... I want to come back soon...Just wish it wasn't filled with noisy patrons (you would think you were at a rock concert or something)

Wasn't too impressed with service. It definatly could had been better.

Why is it so busy?

I live in the area and was thrilled when I heard about Jethro's as a great place for breakfast. I've come here once for breakfast and once for lunch. When I was there for lunch with my friend I ordered the Chocolate-Chip Banana Bread French Toast, and I think my friend ordered the Chicken Fried Stake. Admitedly it was my fault for ordering a sweet dish for lunch, but wow! It just tasted like a plate of sugar. Wouldn't order it again. My friend is very particular with her food, but said that the gravy that came with her meal was good, and she ate a decent amount for being a tiny person. The only real downside of the experience was that the hostess/owner who greeted us was a little abrasive. I get she's probably haggared from opening up her own business, but no need to give customers attitude. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. Luckily our server was a very sweet woman who's customer service was obviously better practised.

When my husband and I came here for breakfast I order the banana pancakes (Nana Cakes -giant!) and he order the Cowboys Breakfast. My pancake was raw in the middle and the sausage and chorizo that came with my husbands order was also severely under cooked to the point where he couldn't eat it. There were only 3 other patrons in the restaurant so it didn't make sense for the cook to rush our meal before it was properly cooked. The other thing that ticked me off was the service. The hostess/owner was very abrasive again (same woman). If she lived in New York perhaps this sort of attitude would be expected, but I don't take sarcasm and sneering well early in the morning.

Perhaps I'm a tad masocistic, but I wanted to give this place a third go. It's so conveniently located that I really wanted my third (and ultimately last) experience to be positive. It was a cold wintery day and so my friend and I decided to stop there for lunch. As usual there was a huge line up (keep in mind the restaurant is small so if you're going to wait for a table you'll be waiting outside). We opened the door and stuck out heads in to ask about wait times. The same hostess came angrily rushing up to us saying "Keep the door closed! Je$^$ Ch%^& I feel like a broken record!" At that point I had had enough. We left and went somewhere else for lunch.

I have no idea why this place is so busy all the time. I have never had a good experience here and have been warning people off of going here. If you want friendly service and a decent breakfast go to White Spot on West Blvd!

Arrogant and insulting service

I asked my server about ordering 3 eggs, bacon and toast and was recommended by her to order one of the combos. The one she indicated had only two eggs and included hash-browns. I asked her if I could get three eggs and leave out the hash, after leaving the table briefly to ask about this I presume, she came back and accepted my order.

My food later came (with hash) which I didn't eat. I questioned my server about why there was still potato as I asked for it not be part of my order, her remark was "I just decided to give you them anyway." Well, that has to be the most arrogant thing I have ever heard from a server.

The real problem is her trying to scam me at the end by trying to charge me for a extra egg as well as the hash (was supposed to have been a substitution) which I never ordered and particularly did not want, and that she openly admitted to just "giving" me anyway. Scary. After insisting this should not be on the bill, the server relented and removed the extra charge.

The food (the portion that I did order) was reasonable in taste and quality, but I certainly cannot recommend this place given today's experience.

Not going back to Jethro's

The girlfriend and I decided to check out Jethro's after seeing some decent reviews and hearing it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, so there as a line-up and wait time up roughly 30 minutes. No problem, as we weren't in a hurry to go anywhere and figured it'd be worth the wait. The wait is understandable; this place is small, with about only 8 tables and was quite busy.

After we got seated, we found the music to be too loud and abrasive. Decor is minimal with mostly white and gray paint, which is fine with me as I'm not too worried about ambiance as long as the food is good. The place is pretty clean.

Waitress was nice and came over quickly to take our orders promptly. We ordered chicken fried steak with 2 eggs and pulled pork sandwich with salad.

The kitchen service was very slow - it took another 30 minutes for our orders to come out. How how long does it take to deep fry a steak and put some puled pork on a bun?! The chicken fried steak looked good - it's a large piece. However, it had no flavour and was bland. The eggs were fine (over-easy) with great, deep orange-coloured yolks, but really, how hard is it to make eggs?! The hashbrowns were quite good through. The white gravy was peppery, but again, short on flavour.

Girlfriend's pulled pork was lacking flavour as well. She though most of the flavour came for the off-the-shelf bottled BBQ sauce. Her salad was nothing more than greens from box of store-bough pre-mix salad. I tried a few bites and found it to be average. Memphis Blues has a better and much tastier pulled pork sandwich.

I didn't finish my meal, which is rare. I'll usually eat everything on my plate but we really just wanted to get out of there by this point.

Overall, the prices are reasonable, but the food quality - specifically flavour, was lacking for what we ordered.
Service was ok, the waitress was pleasant with the only flaw was that she did not come back to check on us after our orders arrived.

I can see why some people like this place, it's kinda funky, decent sized portions at relatively reasonable prices. However, the acid test for me is: Would I come back to eat here again? The answer for us is NO. So I can't recommend this place.
