The Italian Kitchen To Go is located in the lobby of the office building immediately adjacent to The Italian Kitchen. It is a takeout kiosk open only at lunchtime on weekdays. Serves pastas, paninis, salads and desserts at low prices. Usually a line.
This used to be the best lunch spot in the general area. Then they renovated just after the holidays and now the prices have increased by about 35-40% and the portions have decreased by about 1/3-1/2 the size.
It's very disappointing because this used to be a great option for lunch. Now it's overpriced for what it is...
Too bad.. but I won't be back.
I hate to write this review because the lines are already too long. Finally, a reasonably priced lunch place in the West End serving quality food. You can't go wrong with any of the paninis. The lasagna, meatballs and salads are also first rate. Since Kaplans closed its doors it's the best place in the area to grab take out. Far superior to what you can get at the more expensive Urban Fare down the block.
Where else in Downtown Vancouver can you get a serving of high quality pasta for under $5?? I am very satisfied with this location, from its friendly cashiers, to the very reasonable prices, to the well-prepared food. Everything is restaurant worthy but in take-out form. They also have a promotion every Monday, 20% off gift cards, so you can save even more when you buy your food. It's too bad they don't have longer hours.
