Recently discovered this place, I've only been here a couple of times but enough to realize why its been such a hit. While I still consider Guu #1 as far as izakaya goes, this one is does not disappoint. The tuna takaki is amazing and the bibimbap is actually quite good. The main problem can be getting here, esp if you dont have a car, but other than that, this little establishment is a gem on Main Street. Prices are a little on the high end but the food is authentic tasting, which is a plus. And if you don't know much about this type of food, the servers help you out and seem to be knowledgeable on what they are serving (I think the waitresses are originally from Japan).
The good thing about this place is that is does not get crazily busy, so finding a spot should not be a problem.
Came here the other day with a group of friends.
We were greeted promptly to a table and were handed menus.
They had really great drink specials going on. Spend $15 or more on food
and get a discounted price on hot sake or Sapporo beer....fabulous!
We ordered a bunch of stuff, they were all tasty but I really enjoyed the tuna
tacos and the house roll they served.
Service was very good as well. They always kept going around asking
everyone if things were ok and filling up on the green tea.
The ambience was nice with the black and white pictures of Japan
enveloping the wall of the restaurant which gave it a modern feel to it
compared to other places. Also, the WC was kept clean and tidy which
I think is very important in a restaurant.
Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back
again to take advantage of their drink specials!
We popped in after seeing it from Locus the weekend before. We ordered the beef tataki, the ebi mayo, chicken karaage and the Japanese-style caesar salad.
The beef was tender and delicious, and amazingly plated. It came with small cubes of salty-sweet consume that were a whole lot of fun to eat with chopstick. The sweet-spicy mayo on the crispy ebi was amazing, and the rice crispie-wasabi coating was deliciously crunchy. The karaage was what it should be- crisply deep-fried dark meat deliciousness. The salad was really interesting- nothing at all like a standard caesar, but with great little details like crispy tapioca balls. So good!
We'd absolutely go back, and look forward to trying more on the menu.
I had a good time there. I went on a Saturday night and it wasn't too busy. It seems to be Chinese owned but it's a good place.
Ordered sashimi, some kind of roll, beef sashimi, skewers, ebi mayo and a couple other things and a pitcher of Sapporo for $9.99.
The deal was order $15 and get a pitcher of Sapporo for $9.99. I knew I couldn't drink a pitcher but I said might as well. I ended up pouring a pint for the guy sitting at the table next to me.
Service was good and they were friendly. Food tasted great and looked appetizing as well. They had some cool dishes.
It's a good izakaya place. No complaints at all.
I'd totally go back
