I just been to that restaurant tonight with some friends, it`s monday, the restsaurant looks very busy, we tried the daily soup , abalone and the pigeon, I can not belive in Vancouver have such good qulity pigeon, so juice and fresh, the abalone also very good tase, all the food tonight is very good ,we are so happy our friend take us to that restaurant, and the waiter told us the famous old chef come back , that`s why the food so good now, but the service not so good, maybe too busy, I will try their food again.
Cant say enough about the food! The minute i called to the moment i finished eating the experience was fantastic!
Food was great quality...I asked for extra hot, and got it just the way i like it. The desert and Naan was done to perfection as well
Will be back when i am back in Vancouver
Fabulous Fabulous Faboulas Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous.
My friend told me about this restaurant. I tried it out and it was just fabulous.
Best India food i have ever had. The food was yummy, i mean really yummy. The fish curry was amazing. They actually have like a real clay oven that they make the naan in.People you must try it out. If you enjoy Indian food this is the place to be. Very good service also. Good staff . Im definately coming back for more.
Awesome place.

Just ordered two butter chicken. One was extra spicy for my wife, which she absolutley loved, a little too hot for me. My Medium spice was perfect. The Naan bread was so good. I have never had better basmati rice, so fluffy and delicious!! KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO!!!!!
I think I have really low expectations for service when I go to this place. The service was great from start to finish. We received chili sauce, hot sauce and mustard without asking. Tea and water was refilled without asking. The dishes did come out a little slower but it got much busier once noon passed and the service was still really good.
We ordered the usual suspects and they were all pretty standard fare. None of the dishes were really great and the portions were on the large-ish side. I did miss the dim sum carts they have at the Chongqing location on Broadway even though the ladies can pester you a bit much with the same items again and again. Overall I might come back if I am in the area.
This place is a must try for all those that crave good East Indian food.Lots to choose from on the menu. The Chicken Biryani was just too good. Try the Butter naan with butter chicken and the nice indian salad with tamarind chutney on it. The laasi and the tea were also very.....let me see how do i discribe them....authentically Indian. This was our first time at this restaurant and i know that the next time we come to Vancouver we are definately coming back. The staff was very helpful in explaining the menu. The owner Kamal was very nice and welcomed us very warmly. I wish he could open India Bistro in Kelowna. My wife and i would eat there just about every night. Thank you Kamal and all the India Bistro staff was making this an evening to remember..
Many Thanks

This place is one of my favorite place. The service is also really good. The food is incredibly delicious and reasonably priced. The service is always great. The food although nothing too unique is pretty consistent and good. We always try to head out here for staff birthday lunches. A great place to go to after shopping at Metrotown.
Took the in-laws out for some food over the weekend . Ended up at his nice cozzzzy Indian restaurant called India Bistro(on Davie Street). They were very nice to my famiy and friendly with my young kids. We are vegetarians they had great options for us. The naan bread was just amazing best naan ive had. My wife enoyed the mixed vegetable dish. The place was lit with candles, the staff was helpful, the surroundings were very comfortable. I felt the food was well priced. We ended the night with some indain tea. We had to wait about 5 mins to be seated , but at the end the wait was worth it all. We are definaely going to back there. Chris
Both me and my friend visited India Bistro over the weekend. We were very impressed. The food was finger licking good. The Methi Chicken with the naan roti was too good. The server was very polite and did a great job explaining the menu to us. The Aloo Gobi was fantastic- i even ordered some to go. The place was packed and happening. cozy and relaxed ambience. A nice warm welcome by the host. Service was on time. Great Indian Food. I will go back again & again & again.

I went to this restaurant a couple months ago, really wanted Indian food and was in the neighbourhood. My being an Englandy really likes his curry. As we went in the restaurant had a great vibe and feel to it. It seemed like a winner to me. However, it took 15 minutes just to get me a beer(restaurant probably had 3 tables at the time) Our Waiter ( I think the owner) was a nice man to talk to but seemed in a hurry to get our order, which I didn't like. After we ordered our food, ( butter chicken, fish masala, raita, aloo gobi, and Naan), it went even further downhill. The butter chicken was tasteless and all watery, plus the chicken pieces were just massive. Naan had to much butter, aloo gobi was the bright spot as the fish masala was over cooked. Like I said, vibe and ambiance great, everything else disappointing.
Cheers,

We ordered Vegetable Korma and Vegetable Methi with pulao rice and naan. The rice was good, but the curries were very bland and watery, and the naan was rubbery. It was way too expensive, and they charged a $5 delivery fee. We were not impressed overall. But it was the only place open at 10:30, so they have that going for them.
Being new to Vancouver I visited India Bistro on a recommendatio from a friend. Overall I was very impressed with the decor, service & food. Manager was friendly and a great host, food was top nosh and value for price was spot on.
In comparison to Curry Houses in England I thought India Bistro would give any one in Broad Street (Curry Mile) a run for their money.
Great place, will definately visit again.
I ordered the mutar paneer and the peas in the dish were not cooked properly. I told the server and she got the manager to come over and I told him about the peas and he assured me that they were fully cooked. But I asked to have the dish replaced and he declined and said that he would not replace the dish unless I pay for the second dish. He told me that I can take it home if I want. Why in the world would I want to take it home when it was disgusting.
From the moment we walked into the India Bistro, we felt very welcomed and the service was very attentive. When I asked about the lamb dishes, the manager asked questions about what I liked and made a fantastic recommendation based on my answers.
We started with the samosas, which although quite small, were packed with flavour and served piping hot. The accompanying sauce was a fantastic complement to the samosas.
For our entrées, we chose the butter chicken and the lamb methi. I've had butter chicken many times before and this was one of my favourites. I think it could have had a few more pieces of chicken, but the portion was still quite generous. I noticed the dishes actually have little tealights under them to keep the food warm - a great idea - you can enjoy your meal at a decent pace without the food going cold.
The lamb methi is now a new favourite of mine - the lamb itself was very tender and flavourful, and the curry & garlic sauce was outstanding. The basmati rice was very nice, seasoned with spices - a welcome change from standard fare (plain rice). I also really liked the garlic naan which was served warm and packed with garlic.
I will definitely come back here to try a few more of their dishes.
Had dinner at India Bistro last night. We were off to a good start, with a warm welcome by the genial host at the front entrance. The interior of the restaurant has a a nice ambiance, very cozy. I liked the food (channa masala, naan, basmati rice) and there was a good selection of wine, beer, and cocktails to choose from.
But the service was awful. The waiter (while fussing over the table of four next to me) completely ignored me. He delivered my food and never once checked back with me, even when I pushed my empty glass all the way to the edge of the table as a clue that I wanted another. One other minor issue: I found the menu difficult to read. Someone tried to be too artsy in layiing it out. Tip to restaurant owners: Clarity and readability are key elements in menu design.
Ever since they opened up on Davie we are regulars. They are one of the best in the west end. Consistently good. Butter chicken and Lamb methi tops our lists along with Alu chaat. Its a cosy room and always friendly service. Lots of competetion has come around in downtown and everybody was trying to imitate him and underprice him and tactics a few to grab his business. But westenders gold winner for last year for the best Indian is still the best in our list. We have tried every other Indian restaurant in town neverthless this tops in every aspect except that it is nt a highend. Its a westenders hang out.
Out for our weekly date nite - we went here because I had seen it mentioned on this site with fairly good reviews. The restaurant is really cute - BUT the food not up to par and not authentic for sure. My boyfriend who has eaten alot of indian was not impressed when he saw the Onion Bhajia - they were onion rings, and not good at that. The butter chicken base was campbells tomato soup - he watched me eat it to see if I would notice, it was unmistakable. The Aloo Gobhi was just fine. The onion naan was so salty on top I couldn't even eat it. On the upside our server was really great, and like I said the decor is cute. Otherwise it needs some work.
I first discovered this place when a friend and I were on our way to another restaurant. We decided to go here before we got to the other one and I can honestly say it was a good idea to do so.
The food is great, albeit the servings are a little on the small side when it comes to appetizers. As for service, it's been hit and miss for me. Sometimes the server is quite pleasant and other times I've had a server that was pretty cold.
Overall though, I still come to this place for good eats. Looove the extra spicy butter chicken!
My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. The food was good, ambiance exotic, and service attentive. We found the price a little high, but you get what you pay for I guess. The doorman was really charming and greeted us with a nice smile. I think it's one of the better Indian restaurants in the downtown area. We'll definitely go again.
Ordered online through yummyweb.
They didn't call me, after 20 minutes I called them. The man talking the order tells me after he quickly confirms order after I've been on hold for 5 minutes that there will be an additional $4.00 added to my purchase for an 1.80 km delivery distance. Ok Fine, I'll pay, I really want Indian food. I request riata, butter chicken, Veggie pakora ($5.95) and a side of rice.
The delivery was quick, I'll grant it that. The driver comes in I give him (stupidly) a more than $5.00 tip (on top of the $4.00 delivery fee, as I am a generous person). He leaves I open the bag and find that for $5.95 I have recieved only 6 peice of pakora, 6!!! Are you Kidding me! A dollar each for little peices of deep fried veggies)!??! Ok, I put rice onto a plate, and the butter chicken on top of that. I open the Riata to find it is (riata is yogurt) lumpy and I believe by the white chucks, curdled. Nonetheless I have to throw out my first plate of food not wanting to potentially ingest rotten riata.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. I am the guy that never complains when my food is wrong at a restaurant and still gives a tip knowing its not the waitresses fault that the kitchen sucks.
Please don't eat here, very depressing and dissapointing.
