This place is great for what it is - a good-sized pub with decent to good food and good drink specials. In other words, if you're looking for haute cuisine, this isn't the place. If you're looking for decent pub fare as a chaser for your liquid supper, however, look no further. I recommend the Sunday 2-for-1 pizza special - medium 12" pizzas that didn't come out of a box for six-fifty a whack. I'm going there this Wednesday for
The atmosphere is unpretentious with comfy seats and lots of TV screens to watch all the games. Oh, and there are pool tables, video games and probably one of the very few remaining cigarette vending machines. The service has improved tremendously since they recently fired one very troublesome and hot-headed bartender.
All in all, a solid pub experience worthy of Granville Street, but within walking (staggering?) distance of my place. Vancouver really needs more establishments like this one.
I really like the atmosphere at the Hudson's Landing. Comfortable chairs, fireplace, and a wide variety of seating options. Dark and cozy. Huge screen for watching sports. It's one of the better places to watch the game or fight. Good beer selection, and reasonably priced. Good daily specials on drinks and food. Half price pizza on Sundays! The service is attentive and friendly. It may sound like I'm on the payroll, but I really can't say anything negative about it.
So we went last night. We walked in and things looked promising. Seemed like an upscale place. Decent service. Good drink specials.
Then we got the food.
Nachos-the cheese wasn't cooked enough and I swear the salsa came from Extra Foods. Bland.
Steak sandwich-ugh, so tough, I could barely cut it up to eat. Terrible! The caesar wasn't bad though.
I'm glad we had a coupon...I wouldn't go again. Which is too bad because it's close to our house.
I love the food at Hudson's landing and the bartender is funny and great and attentive, but man oh man are the waitresses terrible! They will leave you waiting for a long time before coming to your table and then seem miserable to be there and very unwelcoming. I am not the type to complain but the service is the worst I've ever had anywhere. One time I came in and no one was there to sit us so we sat ourselves near the t.v., we must have waited fifteen minutes till we got up and went to the waitress and told her we were here and we were going to sit on the patio instead, she just snickered and didn't say anything , another ten , fifteen minutes went by and she finally came out and was totally rude and didn't come back till after our dirty plates had been sitting there for a very long time, not to ask us if we wanted anything else, but just to hand us the bill and walk away. I have talked to many other people about this and they all agree , worst service in Vancouver , man someone has to talk to these girls!
I used to go to this pub a lot. Their food is great. However, I have since boycotted this pub due to the shoddy service. The waitresses are apathetic to customers. I sat at a table for at least half an hour without being served despite making eye contact with the servers more than once. I even tried to wave them down with no avail. I had a laptop out on the table, so there was NO WAY that the servers, no matter how dumb and blond they are, could not have seen me. In fact, I saw two other tables come in, THAT WERE RIGHT NEXT TO MY TABLE, and their orders were taken without incident or delay. They made me feel unwelcomed and it is obvious that they did not appreciate business.
