Happy Donair & Grill offers quick serve Middle Eastern cuisine.
Was doing some business at the bank the other day around lunch time.
Walking towards No Frills, we past by a Red Awning - Happy Donair.
The three of us went in and ordered the Chicken Donair with a Pop each.
Inside the establishment was very very clean, the W/C was also clean.
The manager/Owner pair were very nice and service was great
When the donairs were ready, they served it to our table.
Wow, it was huge, lots of fresh chicken, vegetables and sauce.
I could not finish it there, so I brought home, my kids enjoyed the rest of my donair.
Overall, it fills you and it tastes really good and even though this is a small business, food was spectacular.
I will definitely return for another choice.
I have been working in the area for about 10 years and I love donair.
This being said when happy donair opened I was very interested.
After trying there food I quite enjoyed it.
But after extreme fluctuations in the prices I was paying I brought up the issue with the owner.
As he was charging me for my meal I had noticed it was $6 over what his wife charged me the last 3 days in a row.
( Yes I liked it so much me and 4 other co workers were eating it every day for lunch)
The reply I got was disturbing " If you don"t like the way I do biz then you don"t have to eat here.
And I says pardon?
I asked him "If he understood I have been eating lunch every day for the last 4 months"
Things quickly got universalized after that.
The donair, as tasty as it is can not wash out the taste of disrespect.
The space its in is very small and hot. Entering on Broadway by a door always open to a main bus stop on Cambie makes it loud and smells like car fumes. Right where the meat is spit cooked there is an open hand off widow facing Broadway as well. Never again will I nor my co workers (about 75 people) eat there again.
