Hot Pot Restaurant
This is the only hot pot place I've ever eaten at but I thought it was good. The seafood is fresh (large fresh prawns, HUGE oysters), great selection of meats and lots of fresh veggies. The last time I was there, we chose the hot & spicy soup base. You know it's spicy when your VERY Korean friend was teary eyed after the first couple of bites. We fished out the peppers and asked them to dilute it a little and it was good. The cooked food is good too (chicken wings!!).
My sister and I took my Mom there last Friday night for mother's day dinner. Made reservation for 7pm. There were only a few tables there. Not very busy for a Friday night. The waiter said that it's very busy on weekends. But since it wasn't busy, I guess we had good service. The waiter was nice but the two waitress was just okay. They got us stuff we needed. The price was great, for $18 per person and $8 for the soup base, there were lots of vegetable to choose from, and the slices of meat including beef/chicken/lamb/pork were very fresh and so were the prawns/oysters/dumplings/tofu/fish/noodles etc, so much selection. The meat came in large plate which I think could be smaller so it doesn't go to waste.
You have to make you you cook the food well so you don't get sick since everything is pretty much raw. The cooked food was good too including the deep fried chicken wings, sticking rice and deep fried wonton and more. We were so stuffed by the end of the night, we felt bad that we couldn't finished all the food we got, but the waiter was nice enough not charge us extra for it. We had a great time, we tipped them at least 20 percent. They were happy, they all wave to us when we left. Overall a good "all you can eat" place. I would go back again, just for the food.
This place has the best menu of any all you can eat hot pot. Lots of different types of soup bases, meats, veggies and especially seafood.
Where else can you get huge prawns, oysters, mussels and fish.
We also totally took advantage of the all you can eat and pigged out like crazy!! Since it was slow, we stayed almost 3 hours. Ate so much that I was actually dizzy! Got me worried that you could OD on food.
I went there a few times. I have to say I love their hot pot. Good selection of meat and veggie. The soup was good. They also have cooked food but I have never try it yet.
The service was HORRIBLE!
They book us in at 5pm and when we go in they said they not open yet. After being told we have to wait 30 minute, we were actually seated for 45 minute before they take our order.
We have to ask for our dish 3-4 times before we actually get it. We ask for more sauce and they said ok and just disappear.
We usually tip 10 % to 15 % according to the service. But since it was such a horrible experience we only tip 1$. They call 3 other person over and make a big fuss out of it. We explain politely that the service wasn't good and we didn't get our food. They still demand tips and at that point we laugh and left. If they were actually trying to serve us but was busy I would tip them more. But they weren't even trying at all.
I went to this restaurant for all you can eat hot pot tonight. I had a REALLY BAD experience tonight.
This is the WORST hot pot restaurant i ever had especially the POOR SERVICE. I have to ask for the same dishes at least 4 times. The manager said everything is running slow is because there is a new girl here tonight and What we can do is wait. When we asked the manager can we have a bottle of plam juice instead of she needs to keep coming back and forward to refil the plam juice, she told me a bottle of plam juice worths $8 and we just pay $1 more for all you can drink so we can't have a bottle of plam juice. I was wondering what is ALL YOU CAN EAT meas. At last, the manager charge us extra money cuz we waste some of the food. We gave her the extra money and told her we don't wanna eat food w/ FLY ON MEAT AND HAIR IN SOUP.
While we were walking out the restaurant the manager complained to her staff about we didn't give enough tips. What a GRAND 'POOR SERVICE" HOT POT RESTAURANT.
this restaurant is terrible. the service is poor, you are treated badly and the food is cold and badly cooked. they use to have a good reputation but they are more interested in filling up their tables and not making your dining experience anything but rude and aweful. give it a miss. there are better restaurants in vancouver.
Sorry I realized I was being overly generous with the ratings.
Value at $18 was regular compared to other places but at the cost of laying in bed all day and making all too frequent trips to the washroom it was definitely not worth it!
The ambiance was like most Hot Pot places, but just having to look at the rude, ignorant staff all night ruined everything!
This was my second visit to this hot pot restaurant because my first visit was good. My first visit was within weeks of when they started their all-you-can-eat dinner. This return visit, however, was a bad experience and I will not return.
We made reservations and my party sat down on time while I arrived late. My party submitted our first order sheet with only 4 orders of food because they wanted to wait for me. When I arrived and wanted to add to our first order, the servers were reluctant in providing us with another order sheet and said that they would not serve us any other food until our first order sheet was filled.
It took close to 45 minutes for our first order - of only 4 dishes - to arrive at our table. We asked for our sliced meat orders several times before they arrived. Throughout the meal, we had to ask for many things a few times. Food was decent though. And they had a good deal on all-you-can-drink pop for $1 - they brought you cans of brand name pop too, not fountain pop or PC pop.
By the time we finished eating our first "real" order and had just submitted another order, the manager came tell us that our time limit was almost up. We told her we'd just ordered and she said that we could finish it. I think others would agree with me that if they are going to be so strict on their time limit, they should serve their food in a timely manner.
We waited at least another 30 minutes and got another time limit warning and still did not receive all of our food. We complained to that same manager and she discovered that our food had gone to the wrong table. Of course, this manager was now really nice, knowing that we'd finish and then pay the bill and tip them. We tipped what they deserved and we will not return.
I have been to this restaurant many times for dinner. The Hotpot is great since its $5.50 per dish, the Soup Base is $11., and most of the Plain Veggies are $4 per dish.
There is no English Translation on the order form so you have to go with someone that read Chinese.
The Staff often recommend all the expensive Seafood Items so best to bring someone that can read the order form.
We went there for lunch today and we ordered a set dimsum lunch. The food was not fresh, felt like they just heat up some old left over. Some of the items on the menu that we based our order on was changed without letting us know until it comes. We were told by the wait staff that they have not had this item for a long time and all our customers know its a substitute.
Go there for the hot pot since you are cooking your own meal and you can be sure its done right, the cooked dishes at this restaurant is not worth the effort.
