Wow! I have never encountered such cheap, bad service before! We asked for a small sample of the sweet and sour pork (which is normal + other places happily oblige), and after digging around in the tray for 20 seconds to find the smallest possible piece for us to sample, the woman hands over a half centimeter piece of the dough part on a toothpick. Hungrily we just thought forget it, and ordered it anyway. She just sloppily slapped our 3 entrees on the plate and my curry entree just had 3 pieces. These bitter women were so CHEAP and visually miserable without provocation, it was incredible anyone would want to hire them. The food was overly oily, and had more fatty pieces than any other chinese fast food joints I'd been to. The sweet and sour pork was all dough and very misleading, because it looked great on display, but almost contained no meat! This is by far the worst chinese fast food place I've been to, and I was born and raised in Hong Kong. In conclusion, sub-average food, poor value, and the two girls/women working here never smiled once the entire time we were in the Granville Island market.
My wife and I decided to hit up the market at Granville Island for some takeout last night for dinner so that we could go eat by the park and watch the little man toddle. Our son refused to eat the food (smart kid). They unceremoniously piled food into the containers, mixing all the different dishes together.. which isn't the end of the world but its not exactly great service. The food had clearly spent the entire day on the steam table.. because this morning I find myself unable to leave the 6 foot radius of our toilet. I rated the Ambiance as a 5 because the Granville Island Market rocks, if you're into the busy market thing.. just stay away from the Gourmet Wok.
