Casual Italian - Mediterranean in the heart of downtown's business district.
Great place for a casual lunch in the downtown core. A bit too casual to be having a business lunch - but just right to have lunch btw colleagues and friends.
The food is solid - nothing over the top. As someone already mentioned, it is quite heavy (very greasy)... heaviest jambalaya I've ever had. Good value for the food and portion.
Went here for lunch twice this week. First time had smoked chicken penne and garlic bread and the second time a fresh sheet burger. Both meals were great. I would never call the food here authentic Italian or Mediterranean, it's too heavy for that, but it is a good example of what can be attained in a casual downtown lunch place. The penne was an ample portion generously laden with smoked chicken, cream, spices and reggiano. The garlic bread had, gasp, real, smelly, garlic on it. The burger I had was cooked just pink and tasted like ground sirloin. Both dishes were good and plenty. Being mainly a lunch place, I gather, they are good at getting you turned around in under an hour but we never felt rushed. One day we lingered and after the crowd was gone it was a very relaxed atmosphere conducive to good conversation and business talk. If you ate hear everyday you'd probably have a coronary in no time, but once a month, followed by a run, would be about right.
I loved Goodfellas. Truely my favourite Italian place in the city. Amazing pasta. Just amazing. They had great cheesy bread and huge portions which made it an excellent value.
But does anyone know what happened? I walked by today and the doors were locked, and the windows have brown paper in them so you can't see in! Where has my GoodFellas gone?!
I had breakfast here, and it was quite good
Normally I'd say that it is a bit on the expensive side, but given that it is in downtown the price is just right. Had the usual breakfast favorites - portions are fairly large and I agree with the previous posts that it is a bit greasy. The fresh fruit they serve is a nice touch.
