Neighbourhood Thai Restaurant located conveniently across the street from Granville Station on Seymour, downtown. Casual Thai eating experience.
The sign on the door says Gogo Thai but the food doesn't resemble anything close to Thai food; it tastes more like Chinese food. I've ordered their lunch specials a couple times which, interestingly enough, are served with wonton soup. Today I ordered the beef with red curry and it was decent but didn't resemble anything that I ever ate in Thailand nor did it taste like a Thai red curry. The service is pretty good: fast and efficient. The ambiance is nothing to write home about and a little dingy. They serve all their tea in Christmas mugs all year round, I assume they bought these on the cheap from the local dollar store. Overall, "Thai" Gogo is a decent place for a cheap lunch but not recommended if you are looking for authentic food.
I was looking for a restaurant to go to in this area and fancied Thai, so after reading the other couple of reviews I decided to visit with 2 others. So glad we did!! From the outside it doesn't look like much at all, but we were greeted as soon as we walked through the door and could choose where we wanted to sit. There was lots of choice on the menu and some good value combos, one of which I had. Prices were very reasonable and perfect portion sizes. The satay chicken was amazing and I loved the yellow curry sauce. My partner had the pad thai (N1) which she said was excellent. Our friend is a total foodie and was very impressed. Coconut rice was really flavorful. I visited again with my family yesterday and tried the pad thai which had a lovely spicy sauce and lots of shrimp and chopped peanuts - yum!! 5 of us ate for $45 - what a bargain! Check it out.
Go Go Curry House (the sign outside says 'Go Go Thai Food') is my absolute favourite place in town, HANDS DOWN. I absolutely LOVE this place and its food; The service is great and SO friendly (the woman in the store is so smiley and welcoming =] ) and the food is DELICIOUS. First of all, you get a lot of food for what you pay for (it's reasonably priced) and the food is absolutely delicious. I usually get the N2, a noodles dish with veggies, peanut and pineapple. I haven't been to any Thai restaurant quite like this one, the food is unique and better than any other Thai restaurant I've been to. I'd highly recommend if you're in the area (or if you're not). The surroundings are casual but it's a comfortable place to sit and eat a good meal, and the service is very good and friendly. Five Stars.
This is my new find for lunch downtown. Great prices for a combo thai meal - wonton soup, rice, eggroll, and entree. The dishes use authentic thai ingredients and are done well. Service is quick enough and friendly. Great value and good sized portions.
Not as good as the street vendors in Bangkok, but very good at the right price for Vancouver.
I dont type OMG much if at all.
But this place has by far, THE SINGLE BEST Pad Thai in Vancouver. I daresay in Canada. And thats a bold statement. Ive had Pad Thai from Halifax to Toronto to Vancouver, and this place kills it. Its absolutely perfect, and they don't skimp on the peanuts.
The woman that works the front is an absolute joy and very gracious and friendly. The place is a bit bland looking, to be perfectly honest, but we're not there for the decor. The Thai food is out of this world.
