Excellent dessert, too bad their service was far from comparable.

Went there the other night to use up the Social Shopper coupon. The ambiance was nice, sophisticated and modern, yet friendly and not stuffy.

Since the hostess was busy with another table, we waited a while then asked the guy behind the bakery counter to see if we have to be seated or could we just seat ourselves. He told us to just seat ourselves, so we took the only table that was still available in front of us. Just as we were about to sit down, one of the servers came out and told us that it was reserved, which came as a surprised to me because I've called to see I could make a reservation and they said they don't take reservations. So we decided to take a seat at the side just in front of the window. We sat there for at least 10 minutes before someone came with a set of menus. It took another 10 minutes (with the menus closed in front of us) for the server to come back to take our orders. Still no water or utensils yet.

We ordered 2 pizzas, funghi misto bosco and the capricciosa. Took about 25 minutes for them to arrive, and when they finally did, they got the order wrong and brought us a margharita instead of my mushroom pizza. They took the wrong pizza back into the kitchen and came back after 10 minutes with the right order. The portion size was perfect, and the pizza crust was light and crunchy. Loved the stringy cheese and just the right amoung of topping. The capricciosa was delicious, and the hardboiled eggs on top was quite unique. Never had pizzas like those before.

However, service was definitely lacking. While the tables around us were getting contant service, we felt somewhat neglected when our water was not refilled and they totally forgot to bring us plates, napkins or even any utensils. And when we did ask for utensils, the server brought us only 1 set. Were we supposed to share the single napkin and the fork and knife between the two of us?

The only redeeming factor was that they comp our dessert to make up for bringing us the wrong pizza.

Their dessert was absolutely to die for!! We ordered the tiramisu and black forest cake. Tiramisu was one of the better ones I've tastes, and the black forest cake....OMG!! Absolutely divine!!! It looked almost too good to eat, the best black forest cake I've ever had!! Moist and not too sweet, just the right density so it was satisfying without feeling too stuffed. The matcha latte I had with my dessert was a bit of a disappointment though...not enough matcha taste.

Oh right...and they got our bill wrong and forgot to comp our dessert, which we had to ask the server to correct that on our bill.

Interesting experience...the food was excellent, dessert was to die for. Would stay away from the matcha latte next time. Despite the service, I would definitely go back for the food, and hopefully we would have more luck with the service next time.

I decided to check out the new Fairmont and notice this cafe and decided to give it a try. I was greeted by this friendly male server, who was personable, knowledgeable and funny. I was drawn to his suggestion, and ordered the small americano and Breakfast sandwich to enjoy inside. It didn't take long before my Americano arrive and soon after my breakfast. This particular server check on me, could have continued on with his duties, and was absolutely positive eating experience. Thumbs up to this server, If I could have nominated him to Executive level, I would have, and its rare to meet anyone that took pride in his job.
The breakfast sandwich was very good, had great taste and my coffee had lots of flavour. I can see this place being busy during the morning rush or afternoon lunch, but I think with the servver I had, I would definately return again...slow or busy.

Excellent.

After a nice stroll, the big G for Giovane caught our attention. It's not the usual franchise coffee shop.
Decor is nice with a mix of yellow, orange, & white colours. They have two separate counters, one had the coffee menu and a smaller fridge display. The other counter which was down at the back has all the sandwiches and desserts displays. We ordered a Genovese panini and a Portobello panini (ranges from $9 to $12). After paying they gave us a number stand, so we went off and sat down. Both paninis came with a small and nicely done salad and the paninis were nicely toasted. The lattes were EXCELLENT! We ordered a regular and a matcha green tea latte ranging around $3.50 ~ $ 4.50 and it came latte-d art. After finishing, we decided to share a dessert, and so glad we did! We went for the black forest, done so well ranging about $5 which is very decent. You can tell how much work has been putten on their cakes.

Food- Great paninis, desserts, & excellent lattes - A MUST try if you happen to be in the area.
Ambience - Nice and modern
Service - Great
