After briefly noting the existence of this new mini restaurant on Granville's busy downtown strip, I decided to stop in to evaluate the competition.
After a long and inclusive search, I have tried many of the city's variations on poutine, the classic french-canadian dish so beloved by many. Where would this little fast-food gem fall on the spectrum that included La Belle Patate and Mean Poutine?
The Frites poutine did not disappoint. Major points for the thick, soft fries, flavourful gravy, and authentic squeaky cheese curds. It's a simple but delicious take on the original.
As a bonus, the staff were friendly and pleasant, and the meal was super affordable-- $5 for a regular poutine.
I would love to try their waffles and fries with the myriad of sauces that they offer for dipping.
