The Fringe is a cafe on West Broadway.
I ordered what I thought was the safest bet for a snack tonight which was the grilled cheese sandwich. Seriously, who can't make a grilled cheese sandwich? Aparently the cook at The Fringe can't. It came so burnt I could smell it and definitely couldn't get more than a couple of bites down. But after sampling this sad attempt at cooking, it got worse. We sat at the bar where we could see the cook blowing her nose several times and never washing her hands. Clearly she was sick but she handled all the food with bare, snotty hands. Wow.
The bartender and music were both cool but the "cook" showed no interest in doing a decent job in any way.
A friend and went to this place on saturday, because we had the entertainment coupon for buy one entree get one free. The server was really nice, informative and accepted the coupon with no fuss. We opted for the veggie nutburger which neither of us had tried before. It came loaded with pickles, tomatoes, onions, sour cream and salsa is so healthy. Also, the side salad portion covered the side of the plate, it was really good salad greens with green pepper, onion, chick peas and sunflowers seeds. We left full and satisfied will definetly be going back.
What a funky little watering hole!!! This is a place that is fueled by locals that love to drink, smoke and hook up. My buddy and I were looking for a place to grab a beer and a bite to eat and ended up drinking there for 4.5 hrs. We had an awesome burger/beer special and then just started chatting up these two Australian girls at the bar. It's just a really cool place where the bartender knows almost everyones name and what they like to drink. I had a blast and my buddy ditched me for one of the girls!
This is definitely a great neighbourhood watering hole. The music is great on most nights and the bartender never lets anyone's drinks go empty without assuring that they don't need another one. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed and there is always a friendly face to chat for a few minutes when you're waiting for people. Even when you're alone, you're not alone... which is what makes it a great place to sit and just enjoy life. It's more of a pub than it is a cafe, but I'm not complaining!
This is my neigboorhood pub/cafe. You are not going to find a more friendly and down to earth place in Kits. The staff are all very helpful with a great sense of humour. The Food is simple, but healthy and well prepared. Not your typical deep fried pub food. There is no deep fryer here and the food is all prepared in front of your eyes. The ambiance is great and the prices are about as reasonable as you can get. Have a go on a friday or saturday night and the place gets packed and full of life...
