Fresh Slice offers fresh, made to order pizza for take out and delivery as well as in-store pizza by the slice.
I am a fan of Fresh Slice pizza and have been to several other branches. Since this particular Fresh Slice is close to where I work, I decided to order from them for an event my work was hosting. This is not the first time we have worked with this particular Fresh Slice. Everytime we host anything which requires food that is quick and easy to eat, we get pizza from them and last year, for one event alone, we ordered 70 pizzas.
Our event was being held on a Wednesday, so I called in to order 110 whole pizzas on Monday to give them time to prepare for such a large order. During that call, I asked the owner (I was told he was the owner) to provide me with plates and napkins for the pizzas. His response was that he was going to charge me for the plates and napkins. I was complete baffled! I asked him why he was charging me for plates and napkins when I had just put in an order for 110 pizzas. After all, if someone walks in to his store to purchase a slice or two, he would not charge them for the plates and napkins. His response was that since he was giving me a deal ($11.00 per pizza) he would have to charge me for the plates and napkins. I thought this was absolutely ridiculous and I said no and that I would get my plates and napkins from Costco instead (it's the principle). I was also told that I had to go in to the store to pay for the pizza. We determined that I would send someone Wednesday at 9:30 in the morning to pay for the order.
I sent my colleague to Fresh Slice at 9:30 AM on the Wednesday to pay, and when she got there, there was no one there. She was there until 9:45 AM and no one showed up. I called their head office and spoke to the district manager to complain. He said that first of all, they should NOT be charging for plates and napkins. Secondly, there is no need for me to go to the store to pay as they have portable credit card terminals and I can just pay when they deliver the pizza. The district manager definitely made me feel well taken care of and he sorted out the whole thing with that particular branch, so kudos to him. However, the pizzas were delivered late that evening (three separate deliveries and the last delivery was a half hour late).
I will probably still get pizzas from Fresh Slice for future events, but NOT from this particular branch.
