Succintly Terrible

Stopped into the Food Loft tonight around 7pm, and ordered the rice with Lemon Chicken and Mixed Vegetables as the side. The fellow behind the counter seemed genuinely put out that I was there, and I double-checked the signage thinking maybe I had walked in while he was trying to close. Nope. 2 hours to go.

After getting my food I walked into the cafeteria style restaurant space. Not clean, but not dirty.

I tried the lemon chicken first. Lukewarm at best, and hard and chewy. I tried a few peices hoping it would get better, but out of the 8 there, I managed three before pausing to stop myself from gagging.

Pushing those aside, I tried the mixed vegetables. Overcooked and cold. The garlic in them tasted good, and again I only got through about half of the serving because the taste, texture, and temperature were awful.

The rice, which looked like a chef's special, was lukewarm and mediocre at best, even after a dose of soy sauce and sweet chili sauce. I managed to make it through most of it to mask the previous urge to vomit the lemon chicken, so all in all I threw away about half the plate.

The Arizona green iced tea I ordered was the saving grace to wash away the unpleasantness. I love that stuff. It's been a friend many a time, but I digress....

5.99 for very poor food is not a great deal or good value. Wasn't expecting amazing but then again wasn't expecting it to be this bad. Ah well, now I know and I certainly won't go back.

Final summmary:

The Food Loft --- neither food, nor a loft.

My sister and I have become a regular consumer of Food Loft. The food taste a lot better than it was a half a year ago. We always order fried squid ( mmm), fried shrimp, beef broccoli ,chicken with black pepper and noodles. Lots of places charges extra for seafood items, but Food loft does not charge extra. The portions are decent size and are quite filling.

The place is very clean and there is also a TV for entertianment

The Worst Fast Chinese Food I've Ever Had...

Ok, so I was hungrier than a football team and wanted to grab some quick Chinese, fast and filling.

I walk in to see a guy in the corner doing something on a computer. I'm clearly interrupting him, first of all. The food looks decent enough and at 5.99 for a 2 item special, if it's not wonderful, I'll forgive'em, as long as I get fed!

I pick the curry noodles with some breaded deep fried fish and chicken & zucchini in black bean sauce. With tea it comes to about $7.89 or something like that.

The place is cold and empty. I sit as far away from the guy on the computer as possible, not wanting to bother him anymore than I already have by making him get up and dish up the food.

I tuck in, not expecting anything except a hot lunch and a quick fill. The food was all luke warm. I looked around for a microwave (nada) and at the guy on the computer (immersed in something far more interesting than customers) and decided it wasn't worth the effort. Anyway, the noodles were chewy and stale, the fish was doughy and tasteless and the chicken & zucchini was edible but he had given me very little of that (most of the plate was filled with the gross noodles). I ate only the chicken and left 1/2 a plate of food behind. The tea was served in a paper Pepsi cup and it burned my hand to pick it up and drink it, so I had to leave that too.

Ok, so it's cheap, but if it's horrible, that's not value, is it?

This was a meal that made me wish I had Bulemia.

I wouldn't plan on stopping here unless I was hungry and looking for a lot of food for a reasonable price.

The food quality is slightly better then it was under the HoHo name and the selection has improved the service is fast and efficient. For the price you pay it's well worth the amount you get, I couldn't finish my meal of 3 items on rice.

I feel like I'm eating in a cafeteria not a restaurant I suppose for the price that's what I should expect but next time I'll take out and dine at home.

Great food and huge portion!

Great food, very cheap and the portion is extremely generous!!! I have quite a big appetite but cannot finish a 3 item combo on my own! This restaurant took over the previous Ho Ho, the presentation looks alot tidier and they serve more seafood options! I would definitely come back with my friends. Its a good place to chill and kill time. The nice waitress told me they would be serving bubble in a couple of weeks and was nice enough to offer me a sample of their slush!
