Our family-owned restaurant specializes in homemade pizza. All our toppings and dough are made daily in our kitchen right in our store. We use unbleached and whole-wheat flours and only olive oil in production of our dough.
We also prepare our own Donairs—a Turkish grilled meat specialty, Baklava—a sweet pastry made of layers of phyllo dough filled with walnuts.
I've come here several times already and it seems to be the newest favourite on the Drive.
Like any usual pizza place, takeout is king with some seating along the wall. Lineups are orderly which makes for snappy get-in-get-out transactions.
My gf and I have yet to sample the entire array (most of their choices are great) but the beef and blue cheese and the spinach and feta are our preferred selections. Toppings are generous (especially the meatball where the toppings are literally heaped on) while the base sauce is mellow and complimenting rather than overpowering. I am a bit of a snob about the dough/crust and to me it's somewhat inconsistent and lacking. It's a noticably thinner crust than your typical pizza but it lacks flavour and the slight greasiness (therefore crispiness) I generally prefer. We've had this a handful of times and the crust seems to vary in doneness each time. The thinner crust coupled with the amount of toppings will cause some structural integrity issues when eating - folding or propping up with your other hand will probably be required! All in all, it's a good slice and I personally think their thin crust pairs itself best with one of their vegetarian variants.
Service is friendly and relatively orderly. We've had different staff help us each time and it has been good each time. It's hard to find consistency like this nowadays.
If you like toppings both in quantity and quality you will definitely like Fire Pizza.
Went for a couple of quick slices of pizza. Their pizza tasted very good and had lots of choices. This place is busy so they are constantly make new pizza. The service was also very good. The pizza tasted good and they had many choices. Lots of toppings on the pizza. Will go back if i am in the area.
I don't know what the previous review was all about. The man in there was the nicest man in the service industry that i have met in a long time. Me and my husband have been looking for a good donair place on the drive for a while now and thought we would give it a try......so glad we did. The place was absolutely spotless and the man working there was a gem. My husband had the chicken donair and I had the beef/lamb donair and both were fabulous and the value for size was amazing. Both were large and only a mere $3.75 - WOW! After speaking with the man they are starting to make german sausages and pizza in the next couple weeks. Very excited to try anything else made by our new sweet find.
After living close to Commercial Drive for over 6 months I've been trying to get to as many of the pizza places as I can. This place has got to be my favorite.
From the minute they open till closing time, their pizza is always fresh. each slice is so loaded with toppings they're almost falling apart, but in a good way! the owners (I assume) are an older couple and are the nicest people working on this street. the last time I was there my bill came to $6 and I gave the guy a $10 and told him to keep the rest and he wouldn't, he said it was too big of a tip.
I've recently had to move away from the drive but everytime i do go back down there, i always stop here, hungry or not. (hey there's always a cardboard box for the drive home)
This restaurant has excellent food for an excellent value. The owners are always very pleasant and polite. The service is prompt and on one of the few occasions where I have not gotten take out, the owner provided us with some free lamb to sample.
The only draw back is the limited amount of seating inside.
I have eaten the pizza here on several occasions. The pizza is made with fresh ingrediants and each slice is loaded. You can get 2 slices of pizza and a pop for $3.75. A single slice is $1.78.
Another excellent value is a plate of chicken or beef over rice with a greek type salad for $7. The plate of food excellent and the quantity is huge and very filling.
This restaurant is a winner and I would recommend it to anyone.
A great restaurant, with really tasty food and great service from really nice people. I am allergic to wheat so they were able to make me a plate of food using ingredients for their donair on rice and salad. I was thrilled with the personal service. It was really nice to talk to the family running the restaurant and to realize they had done all the reno work themselves to make interior as health and safety conscience as possible. Nice, clean, well priced. I will be back. The personal touch was great.
