Great for groups!

I attended Federico’s recently for a birthday party with a group of 20. The room was packed with people of all ages – some in suits and others in jeans. The servers were professional and efficient and the food was fantastic. We had to pre-order our selections a week in advance, which was a bit of an inconvenience, but it made for very prompt service. I was somewhat sceptical about the entertainment, but Federico had everyone on the dance floor and it remained that way until closing. I would absolutely recommend this place for special occasions and group outings.

Nearly Neil was great!

Excellent food, service and entertainment. A great time had by all. The service was excellent and our server had a great sense of humor. We started with some thin crust pizzas that had a perfect crust and so flavourful. The rest of our appies and entrees were very good as well and then for dessert... Cannoli! To die for. Nearly Neil put on a great performance for the full house and we had a fun time on the dance floor. Can't wait to see more shows here- it is a great venue!

Good time had by all!

We recently took a group of friends to Federico's for an evening of dinner and dancing. My husband & I had been there several times in the past and had always had a good time and wanted to share the experience with our friends.

Our reservations were for 8pm and several of us arrived on the early side. We were seated and promptly asked if we wanted a drink to start off with. As each of our friends arrived, the server approached them right away asking for their drink orders. Once everyone had arrived, the specials were explained to the table. The restaurant was fully booked that evening and once we were ready to order, our server was with another table and the manager saw that that was the case and came to take our orders. Our appetizers came pretty quickly after that. Everyone at our table was more than satisfied with the quality and flavour of what they had chosen to eat. Our mains took a little bit of time to arrive - the restaurant was full of quite a number of larger parties that evening. But we were able to enjoy the musical act that was performing during dinner (one of our group even bought the gentleman's CD) and have a good opportunity to visit with each other while we waited. Our main courses were enjoyed by everyone as well. Desserts and coffee were then offered and ordered. Overall the food was well prepared, had great flavour and the portions were just right.

Then it was time for the dancing portion of the evening! Frederico came out and opened with Viva Las Vegas. He then proceeded to acknowledge all those who were celebrating birthdays and special events and sing a quick song to each of them. He then began to sing a mix of classic, pop, and rock songs which kept most of the crowd on the dance floor until midnight.

Overall, with the mix of modern & classic Italian decor, the live entertainment (with dinner & after dinner), the great food and attentive service, you can be assured you will have a fun evening out at Federico's.

Great with one ctiticism

I posted this review on yelp as well in case someone sees it twice. Read musiccritic but end with a solution and that is to see who is playing before making reservations.
Been there as a couple and with groups several times. The food and service was excellent. The ambiance excellant and we always love the dancing to Federico himself who comes on after the dinner music. The dinner music can be hit and miss as they change entertainers around and are unpredictable when someone is playing. But I guess that is our fault for not checking first. We enjoy the dinner music most when there is a live singer instead of instrumentalists as well. Our favorite is a crooner who gave us a CD while we were there and has a great sense of humour. He even comes off the stage and does dedications and makes you feel warm and as if the music is meant just for you. We were also suprised later to hear some of his original songs being played on the radio. It is always more rewarding to listen to someone whom you know can create his own music rather than simply play others very well. Our friends will check to see what nights he is playing before going again because we can be sure of a fabulous evening of dinner music and Federico's dance music We also appreciate the waiters and manager who all seem to really care about their patrons and SMILE. Holy cow that makes a difference. All in all the place we look forward to going to.

Great food, great music

Met long lost friends from across country at Federico's last night and enjoyed a wonderful reunion to fine food and music. The singer performed for 3 hours straight with one short break and gave us our monies worth with some great music and humor. To top things off. he gave us all one of his CD's, complimentary. "Phil Moriarity Timeless". From the romantic vocals to hot swing numbers kept us applauding and dancing all night. The room was very conducive to a great dining experience with live music. Toronto can't do any better and some of us are visiting from there. A great experience and one we will repeat when in Vancouver again. Our waiter was also very responsive and even though it was a slow night we felt like everyone was on their game. Incredible mid-week experience. We felt very appreciated and not just served.

12th Wedding anniversary at Federico's
By mcruz of Vancouver (1 Review)

The old fashioned neon marquee was immediately visible near 1st Ave on Commercial Drive. Lots of street parking on this Thurs March 1/07 at 6:30 pm.

Our booth over-looked the whole floor & stage. The ambiance felt that of the 60's -70's era nightclub days. Yes, Frank, Sammy, Dino, etc. could show their faces at any time, it seems.
The 60’s furniture makes you imagine gangsters & Stars having sat, drank or ate on them.

Our 25-ish waiter is Italian and a perfect set of white teeth accompanied his cheerful smile. And the service given us matched-up as well.

The food ---excellent. The sauces in each dish were delicious. We had mussels in red sauce and clams in white (both fresh). The double rack of lamb was so tender. I substituted spaghetti in a linguini dish. And when I mentioned the spaghetti was 12% undercooked, it was taken and returned with a steaming plate of my spaghetti with more sauce and additional cooking.

Yes, Federico and any of his hired acts would usher you into days...gone by. The upbeat ballads, classical opera, and time-tested slow themes...would feel comfortable in whatever age group.

And this night at Federico's came with comic-relief. Our 12th Wedding Anniversary celebration was coincidentally scheduled with the 3rd annual dinner for a group of volunteers for/of battered women. My wife is Chinese and I translated that to her (I was pondering to tell or not to tell her all evening long)...and as sweet as she really is inside ---I watched her face glow into a bright smile and continued on to an uncontrolled HaHaHa! She understands the group's helpful work---and did not see the dark side of the coin to any of it. I joked..." that explained why I felt that all the girls looked at me as if I would be boiled like a lobster and eaten up ---shells and all!"

Simply, the best evening of our lives!!! Try Federico's and go with the flow when you get there...people, ok?
