My bro and I decided to try something new for lunch today. I am very sorry we chose El Centro. Though the service was good and prices reasonable, the $2 taco I had was in a word GROSS. The "asada beef" was more like bits of brown sponge that had abviously been re-heated from the day before. It was strangely tastless. If it wasn't for the lime and the green salsa, they would have been totally bland. We should have realized that it wasn't a good restaurant as there were No other cutomers there during the lunch rush. Also on the way to the restroom there was a foul odor permiating from the kitchen. Yuck. I won't ever be returning to this restaurant.
I've been to this place a couple of times. The service is very good, the food is excellent and the prices are more than fair. It's my favorite mexican place I've been to in the city, rivals some of the better ones I've had in the southern United States. The flautas are awesome, and the free chips and salsa are really good. They never seem to mind bringing more chips when you run out either! I also think they have a full bar, but I haven't ventured into that territory while eating there.
