Dream Sushi is a new sushi restaurant on Main Street offering a wide selection of hot and cold Japanese food items including many different specialty rolls.
Dream Sushi is Main Street's latest restaurant addition. They have been only open since the beginning of the week after a complete renovation of the space. The restaurant has about four small booths and a half dozen tables. The interior is clean and is a comfortable setting.
I ordered the lunch special with chicken terriyaki, gyoza and had a scallop cone on the side. The special includes miso soup for $6.50 which is pretty reasonable based on the quantity of food received. I thought the scallop cone was a bit oversauced without any noticeable chunks of scallops in it but it was still good. The seawood was crisp which is always a positivev sign. The terriyaki and gyoza were good.
The service was very good but the restaurant was empty except for one takeout order during our meal.
Overall, I will come back considering the lack of decent Japanese food in my area and the close proximity to my home. I am sure it will continue to get better once they work out some of the kinks that all new restaurants go through.
I stopped in for an afternoon takeout the other day, the restaurant was empty and staff were vacuuming around the tables getting ready for the evening diners.
It's a small Cantonese-sushi run place, they have a hand-written sign advertising Peking Duck roll - no joke! The walls are adorned with scotch taped multi-coloured handwritten comments by past customers commenting about their dining experience here. Nice idea but it sort of makes the place look messy and convoluted in style.
There's about 8 tables to eat at with a dark wood look to the room, I'm sure the lighting that they have set in the ceiling makes the enviroment look more appetizing at night than in the day.
The female waitress was very sweet with a nice welcoming attitude, I'm sure if we were eating in that she would have done a great job serving us.
The food itself was fine, the rice in the sushi was a little softer than I prefer although the seaweed was good not the real cheapy chewy kind.
If I'm looking to eat some sushi in the hood I'd stop here again, nothing in this restaurant raises serious red flags not to.
Dream sushi is a welcome addition to the many Main Street restaurants. The room is simple and clean and also air conditioned! Perfect for the summer months.
The food is delicious. I had an order of agedashi tofu and tuna/sockeye salmon don, both of which were large portions. The tofu was crisp on the outside, gooey on the inside, and the sauce was was also delicious. I think there were about 8 pieces. You could definitely share! The tuna/sockeye salmon don had a total of 8 sashimi pieces which were large, chilled, and cut perfectly. A great meal!
My dining partner had miso soup, vegetable gyoza, and a real crab california roll. She loved it all, especially the gyoza, saying that it had "a large variety of veggies"
Tea was always being refilled.
The waiter was really nice and accommodating. No complaints here, he was fantastic.
All in all, give Dream Sushi a try. It's definitely a lot better than other competitors nearby.
My friend and I stopped in after shopping. This is a small cafe size sushi restaurant and the place was full. Gome Ae, Dynamite, Cruchy, Salmon sashimi, Prawn Tempera, Aga Dashi tofu. Crunchy was by far one of the tastiest flavour profiles I've ever had. My friend is new to sushi and with the help of Dream Sushi, I'll get her eating more of it. She said she could eat a Crunchy Roll every day. Service was spot on. They forgot the dynamites initially but quickly got them out. Not an inconvenience at all. Prices were inline with other sushi establishments but food quality raises my evaluation. Typical sushi restaurant decor but well above average quality food and service. You're definately getting a better quality product here. Staff was pleasant and thanked us for coming in. We left with menu's. I may not want to go anywhere else.
Our family can't get enough of Dream Sushi's creativeness, we eat there at least twice a week. The food is so tasty and pleases everyone palate. Try the Dragon Roll or the pork and veggie goyaza, mmm,mmm dreamy! The staff are so very accomodating-they even offer to stay open late if you call ahead. Thank you Dream Sushi.
This restaurant was opening up on the Main Strip and I finally gave it a try. The decor seemed inviting so we walked on in.
The Gomae was oversauced with sesame sauce. The Nabayaki Udon was way overcooked, and the rolls were just so so.
Best to stick to Shiro next time or make the trek down a few blocks to some of the other sushi restaurants in the area
Hubby and I just got takeout from Dream Sushi for the first time today. We got the negitoro maki, deep fried california roll, the peking duck roll, and the jumping dessert roll. All of the rolls were incredibly tasty, especially the peking duck roll! I loved the sweetness of the duck and I'm amazed no one else(that I know of) has this on their menu. The jumping dessert roll was good, but I wasn't a fan of the bananas in it. Nothing wrong with it; I just don't like them in general. The negitoro and deep fried cali roll were basically the same as any other restaurant, however, I found the negitoro to be a good value, since there was not a lot of rice and a fair amount of tuna and green onions in it. The pickled ginger was a pleasant surprise, not being a psychedelic pink as I'm used to seeing at other sushi joints!
All of the servers were friendly and smiling, which is something you don't see a lot around here for some reason. They seemed to truly enjoy their work, and they were good at it, too. Always checked up on us, even though we were only there for a takeout order. We were given tea while we waited, and our order was taken promptly.
As for ambiance, I liked it. It was clean without being boring. The reviews taped all over the walls were a cute touch. Only thing that was not liked by us (and this is a very small thing) is that my husband pointed out that the door handle on the outside (coming into the restaurant) was a bit sticky...as I said, pretty small.
All in all, it came to 28 bucks for four rolls - the peking duck and dessert rolls were 9 dollars each. Not ridiculously cheap, but the food was damn tasty, so I would say it was excellent value for the money paid.
We will definitely be returning!
I love the new brown rice option! So yummy! Each avocado roll has eight large pieces with generous portions of avocado. The veggie plate # 3 is my favourite. Love the avocado, cucumber and spinach rolls on wholesome, nutritious brown rice! Natural undyed ginger! No artificial colouring! Only 50 cents extra for brown rice per roll! Amazing friendly service, warm, welcoming, always greeting with a smile! You guys are the best! Thank you!
I've eaten at this restaurant several times now, food was excellent and the service generally good. However, that waitress was the worst ever!!! I was surprised the boss would hire such unprofessional waitress. She has such a bad attitude and so rude. Here is the experience I had that just made me stop going there as much.
I decided to try out their dinner menu. After being seated, the waitress came to take my order. No greeting, no smile! She looked like she was furious. It looked as if she didn't want to give me the menu. Anyway, with an angry tone in her voice she asked me, "what do you want?” Then she threw the menu on the table at me and just stared at me. She was not knowledgeable about the menu items. She was horrible! I got bad waitress service and I did asked her name, L****.
I was so disappointed with her poor service. It makes me considers switching to a different place.
This is one of the best sushi restaurants on Main Street and cheaper than Zipang or Toshi's. Service is great and the food is quite good. It's by far not my favorite sushi restaurant in the city, but they have brown rice sushi topped with flax seeds making it a much healthier option than white rice. I go here the most often now because of the brown rice option. Haven't had their sashimi so can't comment on that. But their rolls and maki are 8 out of 10 and there's tons of stuff to choose from.
Loved the food! Came out fast and fresh. Server was a tad bit slow for having only one other table when I went, but very friendly. Clean restaurant, cozy with benches. Nothing bad to say, would highly recommend. Meal was reasonably priced, about the same you would pay elsewhere except you get better food.
