A wide selection of different flavored Bubble teas, milks, and ice. Always busy and a hit with the local teens and twenty somethings. Line-ups common on Friday and Saturday nights.
I used to go there a lot thinking its fresh fruit but how will they have fresh mangos and watermelon when it's out of season? All the other stores are sold out when it's not in season. I'm sure they don't use fresh fruit. It's probably all powder and canned fruit. I have never seen any fruits inside there counters or refrigerators. The pearls are really good though. It's really busy there. There's always a long wait and the store is always crammed. Price is alright and service is good. I don't like how their counters are so high. I can't see what they are doing back there with my drink. I would rather go somewhere where I can see my drink being made.
This has been our go to place for bubble tea since my days at university. We went again today and I had the fresh papaya milk slush with coconut jelly. Nice papaya flavor. I have tried most of the drinks on the menu with various pearl/jelly/pudding combinations and I cannot recall any disappointing visits.
I really like the fact that when I have a slush-style drink the ice is a very, very fine slush. I have tried slush at some other bbt places and the ice can be quite coarse. The pearls are consistantly nicely cooked with good chewy texture.
Service has always been the same for our visits. We order, we wait. We usually go on a Saturday and the waits have never been unbearably long. I'm okay with waiting because they are busy, and if they're busy that means there is a lot of product turnover. In turn, I'm inclined to believe that the ingredients in my drink are fresh or at least not sitting past it's prime. ;) The service is decent for what it is. I don't expect too much from a take out drink place. I just want a well made bbt. In our last several visits, the owner has been manning the front and he keeps things moving pretty smoothly.
On a side note: In our past visits there was a female server with a stone cold poker face, that would always ask, "Anything else?" in a robotic monotone voice, at every pause in the order. We LOVED her! For some reason her no nonsense, somewhat surly demeanor appealed to us. And being asked, "Anything else?" at every pause was hilarious. I don't think she meant to be funny but it was always the highlight of our bbt visits. (Sigh....) We miss her.
The prices are right in line with many of the other places I've tried. Maybe even a little better considering I can always depend on getting a good drink. Whereas at other places it can be a bit of a crap shoot.
The ambiance is just decent. It can get cramped when crowded. Sometimes the music is blaring. Sometimes there are strange odors. At times things are sticky...I can deal with this as I don't eat in, I get out as soon as our order is up.
I still continue to frequent Dragon Ball and still recommend it to friends.
Both times I have been to Dragon Ball, I have waited for ridiculous amounts of time. The first I went I waited 25 minutes for one bubble tea. The next time, I PRE-ORDERED an hour previous and when I get there, I still had to wait 20 minutes for only 3 bubble teas. Service was also poor, whenever I asked how much longer, they told me yeah just a second just a second. My drink was also sub par and the bubbles tasted old and gross.
I love this place! The drinks are fantastic! The price is good, especially the fresh fruits! My fav are blueberry/strawberry slush and taro slush. This place is just a hole in the wall, very small and gets super busy all the time! And they do not cheap out on pearls.
Will continue to come here everyweek!
I've heard about this place a few times from my sister but never knew exactly where it was and didn't think it was worth my time to go hunting for it since I rarely go in that area.
It happens that my guy friend lives near there and after dinner at his place he asked if I wanted to go for a drink. He's walking distance from this place and now that I've tried it, I regret not having made my way there sooner! I had the blueberry milk tea, it was the best bubbletea I've had in Vancouver! I've often went to Taiwan and this is as close as it gets to the real thing!
Service was as good as it can get considering it's just over the counter ordering and you get a number.
The place itself looks old and small seating maybe 10 people max but most of the people sitting there were just waiting for their drink. Not really a sit down and chill kind of place.
I will definitely try to come here more often even though it's out of my way most of the time!
As commented by many others, it is needless to say that they have got the best bubble tea in vancouver that I know of. And in my opinion, I think one of the many reasons (esp. fresh fruity taste) their bubble tea tates better than other places is that their bubbles are sweeter than others', I figure.
However, I personally loooooooooooove their "parsimon" one of the fresh fruit flavours. I think they are the only place with parsimon. Love it love it love it! highly recommended!
However, they TRUELY MADLY DEEPLY (haha) are in need of renovation. too small space to fit in, and please do something about that smell.
I was told that this was the best place for bubble tea, and after reading some of the other reviews, we decided to stand in line after all. The service was actually pretty friendly considering how crowded it was and that it was your typical over-the-counter exchange. The atmosphere was super cramped! Now, I'm a big critic when it comes to mis-advertising. My mango drink, which I chose to go for the milk slush version, was not real mango. Mango pulp is what I tasted - the same thing they use for mango pudding. And I'm pretty sure the milk was not real either - you can see them stirring something in before they blend the drink. Don't get me wrong, the drink was pretty decent considering the price. I just wish they wouldn't say fresh fruit or milk if they weren't fresh. For the reviewer who claims they use very good tea. They don't add tea to your slush drinks. It's only the milk teas. Even then I doubt they have very good tea for all tea palettes. The pearls were very good, I have to admit. Overall, it's a decent place to get bbt for the price, but not for the wait or quality.
I took the advice of one of the reviewers here and tried out the creamy mango pearl tea. It tasted like fresh mango and very filling. Next time I will try out their other flavours. Only downside, is the lack of parking around, there were only 2 parking stalls allocated and no parking on King Edward.
Had to try this place after reading all the rave reviews on this site. Even though I'm not a huge bbt fan, I am now hooked. The other reviewers are so right, the bubbles are awesome here.
I even have my boyfriend craving bbt from this place, and he's never liked bbt before. He loves their strawberry banana milk slush w/ coconut jelly. The only thing is, these drinks go down SO quickly, that I'm finished mine by the time we get home, so I always order 2 whenever I go now.
Service is efficient and friendly, and the prices are great. I hope that doesn't change too soon.
I don't want to repeat what has already been said in other reviews, but basically the parking and store size are the only problems I have with this place.
Also, does anyone else love that the cups say "Caution: Choking Hazard" on them? Too cute.
this is hands-down, Vancouver's best bubble tea joints...service is friendly..."slush/no slush? milk/no milk?" ... food is good too (toast is good) but i think they need more variety and better settings/cutlery...the PEARLS are THEE best here..i think they soak'em in syrup prior to serving them...that's what makes it so good..oh yeah , and they also got a bunch of FRESH flavours....none of that powdery-stuff. Go Dragonball!
I was needing a bubble tea fix, so I wandered into Dragon Ball. I ordered the longan fresh juice tea mix with tapioca.
It took quite a long time to get my drink, but it was worth it! The bubbles were very chewy, warm, and delicious. I'd never had longan before, but blended with ice it was fantastic (very sweet!)
I will definitely go here again!
I've tried bubble tea at many places in Van/BBy and Rich but always go back to Dragon Ball. Very good bubble tea with lots of pearls (and coconut jelly if you prefer). Good selection of flavors and service is always prompt unless there is a lineup of 20 patrons. Ambiance...well take it or leave it but I'm there for the bubble tea.
Long lineups during the summer as this place is easily the best in town. They actually use fresh fruit which sets them apart from the pack. Good for stopping by after a run or ball game at Douglas Park.
I recently tried the bubble tea here and I must say it did not disappoint. It is now my #1 choice for bubble tea.
I personally like the strawberry slush w/ pearls. The pearls were the best I have tried anywhere. The service is very prompt considering how busy it is. The one only negative would be the ambiance. I almost feel like sardines in a can when waiting for my order. However most people, including myself, go there for take out bubble tea so I don't mind it too much. Overall, definitely worth giving a try if you have not done so already.
I've been coming here for years have had many a good time with friends and by myself. This is one of the only places in the city that has avocado slush bubble tea and it's SO good. I have also tried their many fresh fruit concoctions, plain milk tea, taro, and a new favourite of mine, the wheat germ milk tea with pudding. Also, SO good. The service is okay, you pretty much just order and wait for your order to be called. It gets really crowded sometimes, but it's all part of the fun!
the people there are real nice. sometimes theres a funky smell. but thats alright after getting served REAL good bubble tea.
a good place to have a drink and talk with some friends !
PS. the pearls are really nice and soft. id say the best pearls !
try the mango passionfruit with milk and slush with extra pearls or coconut jelly its the best bubble tea i ever had trust me. My freind told me that after my soccer game that we should go get some bubble tea when we got there he siad it was the best bubble tea in vancouver i siad yeah right so then i order the same thing i always order mango passionfruit with milk, slush with extra pearls i had to wiat 10 to 20 minutes the place was crowded but when i got my bubble tea it was awsome it was worth the wait so then when i got home i siad i want some bubble tea i went to the same place agian six times in a row and my bubble tea was only four bucks this is the best bubbl tea in vancouver
well my high school sells there bbt and it tastes great. but when i got to the actual place it had a funni smell and it took a really loong time but other than that the japanese green tea (4.00) is really good tastes like ice cream.
I love the bubble tea here. I go there at least twice a month since i'm not a big bubble tea person in general. I've been to maybe other places and none are as good as dragon ball.
The pearls for the drinks are great.
I recommend the Japanese green tea and mango slush. I love it
The bubble tea is probably the best in vancouver. I've gotten bubble tea from here at least 10 times. It's consistently delicious. The bubbles are always cooked to perfection and are flavourful. There's a variety of flavours to choose from. Naturally, the fresh fruit ones are the best. I've only ordered the strawberry and the mango bubble teas so far. They're just so damn good, especially the mango. It really does have a "creamy" texture to it if you request milk (no extra charge). The bubble teas are reasonably priced at $3.75. (medium-large size)
Service is quick and efficient. Not really anything else to say.
This tea house could use a renovation. It's dull looking, dirty, and smells like rotten fruit in there. It's also small and cramped so I don't recommend people to drink and chat there. Best for take out.
It's hard to find better bubble tea than this.
