Dijo's serves pizzas, chicken wings, italian subs, salads, Mario gelato ice cream, lasagna, spaghetti, garlic bread, cheese/pesto toast and their well-known Italian Panzerotto for eat in, take-out, delivery and even catering!
Late Saturday order. Ordered two pizza's for pick up: pesto and bruschetta.
Food: the crust was good with a nice crispness to it yet not overly crusty. Bruschetta topping (tomatos, garlic, and herbs). The garlicky taste was little overwhelming with bits of garlic throughout. Aroma was great but I thought it added too much "bite" to my liking. Pesto pizza was very good, adequate pesto to tomato sauce ratio. Pizza's were hot and not overly greasy.
Service: seems family owned with friendly enough service. The pizzas weren't quite ready when we arrive for pickup and the cashier was very apologetic about the delay.
Ambiance: typical hole-in-the-wall pizzaria with a few small tables and chairs for casual dining. Some bar stools along the side counter. It's primarily a take-out place so don't expect full service.
Value: Price wise it's more expensive than your average pizza from a chain restaurant but makes it up by providing ample toppings and fresh ingredients. $24 for two medium pizzas. They also sell pizza by the slice for $1.75. Not a bad deal if you're at PNE during fair time. Since they're blocks away, it's convenient and local.
I went here late last night to get some pizza slices.....the pizza did not look so great and a little expensive...you can get cheaper by the slice on Commercial Drive.
Again, I seem to write this in all of my reviews.....please tie your long hair up and after handling money please wash your hands!!!
The pizza was too saucy but all in all not bad. Not like before when it was the original owners. My recommendations are order the whole pizza not by slices.
Nice and friendly service though.
This place is okay. I was really hungry one night, didn't know where else to go, so gave it a shot. I had one Panzerotto and one small pizza. The place was small, I wouldn't have even known it existed if it wasn't for Dinhere.ca.
The food was a bit bland, I didn't like the pepperoni (tasted like cheap pre-packaged stuff from the grocery store), but I must say that at least the toppings were plentiful.
The pizza is okay if you're really hungry, otherwise if you want good pizza, keep looking.
I have been a customer at this pizza joint for years. They make really good panzerottos, but i usually go for the hat trick special (3 large pizzas for $29 or the 2 for 1 large pizza special for $20). You get to pick 3 toppings each for the hat trick special. Anyway, Their pizzas are very good, what makes it good, imo. is their pizza sauce. It has a unique flavor to it. Try it today, you won't be disappointed.
I wouldn't say it's fantastic but there is nothing better that I can in a 12 block radius especially pizza by the slice. Definitely 10 times better than that place on Hastings by London Drugs. I can only comment on the pizza by the slice cause I've never had anything else. They have a decent selection usually all the time. The people there are friendly all the time. The only issue I have is that sometimes they have more expensive slices of pizza but will never inform you that it's more expensive than the regular $1.78 slices. One cool thing is the guy will deliver pretty far. I still go there regularly.
ordered a medium hawaiian and two panzerottos on a friday night
the cashier was friendly and helpful and the wait wasnt too bad (15 minutes)
the pizza was mediocre, the pineapples were scattered and falling off the pizza and the sauce tasted something like ketchup.
although the drive home was only 5 minutes, the panzerottos were very soggy and all the tomato sauce was crammed in the very end, not very satisfying.
I was disappointed after reading the positive reviews on this site, I have a sneaking suspicion whoever wrote those reviews is an employee.
All in all I wont be returning to Dijo`s for anymore pizza.
Food: It's unbelievably delicious. What's the difference compared to other pizza joints? A whole ton of toppings, fresh and juicy. Even though I'm not a great fan of fried food, their deep fried panzerottos are crazy. They're like pizza pops, but, these ones do pop! I was amazed by it's ginormous size. The plentiful meaty pepperoni, and the melted cheese inside just gets me all hooked onto it. They also serve ice cream, which I believe are selling at a reasonable price. Great for refreshing from the summer heat.
Service: Very friendly service, especially towards the elders. They were very patient with an elderly woman who took extra time in choosing her meal. Compared to like Pizza Hut and Fresh Slice, these people are actually "serving" you. They always say thank you and have a nice day, supremely well-mannered. The employees always smile, not with one of those "forced" smiles which you can tell right away like the employees from Fresh Slice does. I can absolutely say all their employees are well equipped for excellent service.
Value: Average price. Basically you're going to be charged for what you get. Certain price for certain service and certain quality of food. Personally, I'd rather pay a little more for a better bite. People live on food, why sadden our stomachs for garbage slices priced to $ 1.00. Extra few cents, what can I say, totally paid off.
Ambiance: Small, yet clean and tidy. I love how they designed to put up mirrors on one of the walls. This adds an enlargement effect to the entire restaurant, making it look double it size. Even though the outside of the store does not look super appealing and attracting for people to take notice.
One note, If I were to choose form the Gourmet Restaurant beside it and Dijo's, I'd definitely make no second thought and choose the pizza right away. I don't get why the Chinese restaurant is still open and going, their food tastes horrible with no improvements over a year - Disgusting!
Best pizza in town. Double ingredient of all other pizza stores but with normal price as the others. Friendly & polite customer service. The one & only one place serving Italian Panzerotto. Panzerotto is an Italian specialty which is very juicy & tastey. Try it out yourself. You will agree with what I say here! Try some 99 cents slice pizza from somewhere else and compare the quality with the Dijo's. You will find that it is worth to purchase from Dijo's. I like Dijo's as it is tidy and clean although it is small. As pizza is hand make, it is very important to go some place you fell clean, comfortable and safe from dirty hand make!
Dijo's is the best pizza in East van! This may be the best kept secret in Hastings-Sunrise. The service is amazing. It's more of a take-out/delivery/pizza slice, but if you want to eat in there is an excellent fashion mag. selection and a TV.
