Denny's serves a menu of diner classics including all day breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches and more.
I patron here on and off. Thier food is pretty good for what it is (but not a favourite) The staff here are great though. They always greet me by name. It's pretty much what you would expect at a Denny's restaurant really.
I don't mind coming here in the day, but it is a terrific option at night when the majority of the reastaurants are closed
I only come to Denny's now for their breakfast (specifically their "Grand Slam" item) after having some of their other rather "blah" items.
Denny's holds quite the cachet as THE greasyspoon for the bar-hopping club, hungry for the munchies go getter at 3am. Being 24hrs and on a main road frequented by Taxis you can not expect a crowd like this on the weekend.
Various locations do vary by vast proportions however this has been the best to the handful I've been to.
Eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, hash browns, toast and pancakes comes and goes down the same each time and leaves me happy (stomach and wallet). It's probably the best of the worst for greasyspoon-type cuisine. It's usually a little oily but never beyond that. Guilty pleasure once in a while I guess.
Servers are quick and friendly enough. I suppose the daytime dining crowd reminds them that you can hold your sanity together if you're somewhat unlucky enough to work the twilight hour shift. Don't be too scared off this location doesn't seem to have too many of the colourful people around deep into dusk.
I wouldn't deviate too far past the breakfast section.
Food: Had 2 eggs (poached) breakfast with hashbrown and english muffin. Hashbrowns were a bit greasy. Eggs were done just right. Coffee was also good.
Service: Server made sure our coffee mugs were always filled. Very accomadating: we asked for the music to be turned down b/c it was too loud, we couldn't hear each other talk, and it was done immediately.
Value: maybe a bit overpriced for the quality of food you get. portions are ok though.
Ambiance: stand Denny's decor.
The food is consistent to the other places. Greasy. The service is just like any other Dennys, nothing spectacular. The value is average, considering it is one of the few places open late night, probably the best next to McDonald's. If you are up at 2AM and are hungry, it's worth going there to satisfy yourself.
Really impressed with the staff - very friendly and patient. They were especially helpful with our menu choices as my son has allergies. They went out of their way to double-check on the ingredients. The manager even walked around the restaurant to say "hello" to everyone and ask how our meals were. Some menu items a bit pricey. Still a nice dining experience. Will go back someday.
"My husband and I went to the new Denny's in Richmond for Sunday morning breakfast on June 27th. Big mistake, food was gross, mine was overcooked with burnt toast and my husband's eggs were undercooked. We sent his eggs back and they sent the same eggs back re-cooked and burned, we felt like we were bothering the waitress when we asked for sugar for the coffee and she seemed very upset that we complained about the eggs. The restaurant was not very busy at the time. We do not have a problem paying $25 for a good breakfast but this was a terrible."
This place runs like a well-oiled machine. Other Denny's locations around town run the gamut from good to awful, but the West Broadway location (a few blocks east of Granville) feels more like a great family-run diner than a chain restaurant.
Service is very fast and efficient. The older Chinese-Canadian waitresses have probably worked there 15 years or more and know their stuff. The place seems to be filled with regular customers. Food usually arrives in less than 15 minutes. Again, even though the menu items are the same as other Denny's, the food tastes fresher and better. It's probably down to cleanliness and proper food prep. Interior is starting to look a bit worn, but it's clean.
If you're looking for diner food in the Granville/W Bway area, this is the best choice. Nothing fancy, but great at what it does.
I decided to swing by this Denny's as my friend had recommended that this location had pretty decent service and good food. I am not sure why he would say that because the moment I walked in I was unimpressed with the type of service I recieved as there was a bit of a small line up around 4 tables worth of people, the interesting part of this was that there were 6 tables available ready to be seated so I could not understand why the people in front of me and myself were not being seated.
Once I was directed to my seat my server if i remember her name i think its started with an N but I digress my server wasn't very good as it took her a fairly long amount of time to actually get to me when clearly all she was doing was chatting with customers which I assume were her friends before even coming to serve me.
she even took her time getting to me when clearly it was only myself and the group she was talking to her were in her I would assume immediate section. When she did get to me I was a little offended as it seemed that I recieved a dirty look from her as if I did something wrong. but to the point I recieved very poor service.
The saving grace for this restaurant was the food. which was actually fairly decent albeit besides the dessert which was made wrong by my server as she made the dessert in a way that i did not request. If i requested my chocolate cake warm (it was heated from a microwave) I would have asked for it to be made that way, or i would have just bought the same cake and microwaved it from my home. my critique of the food.
-breakfast (hasbrowns, pancakes, sauges, bacon) fairly decent
-coffee (kept on coming) which is good
-dessert (chocolate cake) was made in a way I did not request
-service - mediocre at best
-ambiance - its a dennys what else would anyone expect
so all in all I might come back here just as long as I dont get the same server I had in my previous visit. as I could clearly see the other customers being treated exceptionally well.
