The service amazes me

Every once in a while, I get Denny's cravings. I pretty much have to get the lumberjack slam because its a ridiculous amount of food and the price is right. Late at night, this place gets a little crazy with loud music and drunk people everywhere and somehow the staff keep up the friendly and efficient service in zen-like fashion.

Last time I decided to go with just the grand slam breakfast and it was good. The eggs were cooked perfectly and everything else was fresh and hot. I would like to see them use free range eggs but other than that, its a decent breakfast especially for a late night snack. That being said, I probably would never go to Denny's for my regular weekend breakfast outings, its definitely more of a late night thing for me.

Good Breakfast

I occasionally go to Denny's when I'm craving bacon & eggs on a lazy weekend. I met up with my sister and my nephew for our pancake fix on a Sunday afternoon and we all had a pretty good meal.

I've been to this Denny's a number of times before and I have to say that the service is usually MUCH better than on this occasion. Our server was clumsy (spilled hot water on me), forgetful (had to ask 3 times for a drink) and all-around ditzy (no tea bag with my hot water).
Thank goodness he had the assistance of others, or we might not have gotten our food.

When the food arrived, everything was really good - eggs cooked to order, bacon crispy, pancakes fluffy, hashbrowns seasoned. The only complaint at the table was my sister saying she could taste meat in her veggie omelette (she's a vegetarian) but she said it was likely just from the fact it was cooked on the same grill as sausages - still good and everything else was fine.

I think Denny's is a great place to go for breakfast - have never had anything else here, so I can't really say much for lunch or dinner offerings, but the breakfast rarely disappoints.

Birthday meal deal

Mrs. C and I continued our celebrations of her B'day festival weekend with a trip to Denny's for a late breakfast. I had a chicken fried steak, and the birthday girl was feeling Belgian, so had one of their waffles, with a milkshake on the side.

The décor is diner-ish, and reasonably clean and tidy, and the service was good, which was a bit of a surprise. We had our menus, coffee, and meals promptly, and so no complaints there. The server was totally okay with the free meal on birthday deal, and only I was embarrassed :).

The CFS was tasty and well prepared, and the sides were just fine. Okay, not as good as IHOP, but good. The BW was reported to be tasty and it came with lots of bacon and sausage. The milkshake also got thumbs up.

No complaints really except maybe for the peculiar-looking folks lurking in the restaurant.

Recommended for birthday boys and girls.

Like going back in time....

In the day,... Denny's was the place to be after a night at the bar. Now,.. it's the place to be after a night at the bar. A new more modern look for sure, but the food is pure Denny's. 3am chili cheese fries are a thing of the past but the food is still solid and you can count on it to be consistent. The staff at this location are friendly and seem to know the regulars quite well. Food doesn't take too long from the kitchen and the servers check in as needed at the table. Value wise... always good for what you get. The new room is quite nice but I almost miss the old school diner'ish feel to it. Feels almost a bit too posh to be in there at 3am for the chili cheese fries and cherry coke.

Would we go again? Yes. It's a blast from my youth and while it's not always a healthy choice, it's an indulgence (and fun with your drunken friends).
