Dean's is a sandwich shop on Melville serving deli sandwiches and homemade soups with generous portions at reasonable prices.
The Sandwiches at Cafe Dean are Outstanding. I had a Roast Beef sandwich and the meat was obviously freshly roasted as they say on the sign, and the toppings were all extremely fresh and obviously prepared within the same day. The portion of meat was very generous, and although it looked a bit small when it was being prepared, I could barely finish it.
I docked a star for the bread as it's just the standard grocery-store fare. However, this is just a minor caveat considering how good the overall sandwich is.
The sandwich also came with a very nice pasta salad, and the overall meal was much better than something like Subway, who would charge you the same price for less meat, and worse toppings. The total cost was around $7.00 including tax, and it was well worth it.
The service at Cafe Dean was also very good. I was in and out within 5-10 minutes, and everyone was very friendly and pleasant.
The ambiance for a place like this was good as well, and there are plenty of places to sit and eat. It's a quieter area of downtown, so it's a nice place to go, and probably why there aren't as many reviews of this place as there should be.
Overall Cafe Dean is excellent. It's hard to say anything bad about it, and the prices are low considering that the meat is freshly roasted. Highly Recommended.
Incredible Sandwiches, so fresh and such a good deal for the price. I've become a returning customer. Get the shrimp Avocado, great seafood lunch. There soups are actually home made, no preservatives so its actually fresh and actually homemade.
This sandwich restaurant/deli/bakery is a few steps away from my condo. I don't consider many places to be hidden gems in the city but CAFE DEAN is certainly one of them.
This little place has amazing prices, delicious home-made hearty soups, and some of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. They roast their own meats daily and for that reason their roasted turkey sandwich is OUT OF THIS WORLD (make sure to get cranberry sauce on it). The egg salad sandwich is also a steal and soooo delicious!
The portions are extremely generous for the price and the service is super friendly. The owners are so nice that they even wave at me when they see me walk by on my way to work every day.
Forget about SUBWAY and give this local deli a try! You won't be disappointed.
