Been here a few times over the years, the food has always been decent, we'd usually get the Ja-Jang Myun and a few other dishes for dinner. So the food is good, no complaints and usually staffed with one waitress, but for a small place that's fine.
My only pet peeve about this place is the carpets are brown, worn out and really really dirty. I'm picky about the cleanliness of a restaurant, if you're going to charge people for food, clean the place up at least. So if you can look past that (because you will need to), the food and service are solid.
Went in for lunch today, got ourselves the kimchi dry noodle, a tofu pot, and spicy chicken.
The seafood tofu pot is packed with seafood and tofu, and the soup is tasty.
The noodles are on the spicy side, so I loved it.
Spicy chicken isn't too bad, but portion's on the small side.
Side dishes are authentic as well.
However, when you add all these up, it only cost me $25. Great value, must say.
One downside is that there were only one or two server in this busy restaurant, so the service is a bit on the slow side.
Overall, worthy of returning.
Our families went there few times for dinner. And I always went there with friends for lunch. The lunch special is quiet good, and is good value. We usually order two meals and one appertize to share. The Hot Rice Bowl is traditional Korean Style and their spicy stuff tasted very good.
We've been coming here quite regularly this year. The decor is pretty sparse, but seems clean. Have tried many of the dishes, most are good. The seafood pancake, deep fried chicken in spicy sauce, and soft tofu stew are my favorites here. The stews all come with a bowl of rice, the pancake and chicken dishes are large, as are the noodle dishes. One dish I didn't particularly enjoy was the beef brisket soup/stew...the beef was shredded into strings, and there were more green onions in it than beef. There is bbq here but it's cooked for you, not cook your own. There seems to be only one waitress, but service seems to be ok since it's never full when we go. The side dishes could be better, the portions were not great. Overall not a bad place for homestyle Korean food.
It is no frills, standard average Korean. I am always relieved to see Korean staff at a Korean restaurant, and also Korean evening customers, which to me typically signals positively.
None of the food, even the little complimentary kimchi dishes, is outstanding. Everything seems to miss the mark in some fashion according to my taste buds, although the Dol Sot Bee Beem Bob and Chicken Katsu are very solid. The kimchi is a little too salty, the kimchi hot pot a little too sour, the bul go gi soup a little too bland, the beef brisket soup has far too many mushrooms. So it is nothing special, but I would describe it as a fairly solid experience. The rice dishes come with a peppery beef soup, which is unique for me, so I cannot judge it, except that I like the taste.
The recently introduced lunch menu has lower prices and smaller portions, so that is a good way to sample.
The staff, usually just one person at the counter, is fairly attentive, and makes a couple of trips to refill tea even when it is busy. The front staff seems to change every couple of months, and sometimes language can be an issue if you have questions. The music is played quietly enough to not be obtrusive, and it's typically Korean and Japanese pop.
Whenever I get a craving for no-nonsense korean comfort food, this has become a recent favourite. While I like the kalbi at their sister restaurant (Cho Sun) more, my friend loves their marinade here. I was also pleasantly surprised by their very tasty jupchae and I love their jajengmeun. Their bibimbap is standard, while the fried chicken is also yummy. I would like to taste their pajeon and tofubo next. Didn't see any kimbap on the menu however.
I love the fact that it is very authentic as the waitress barely speaks any english and it is mostly full of korean customers.
Used to be really good, 2 years ago. They changed owners last year, it was too bad. My family and I used to eat there almost every weekend, and the owner didn't even let us know they were changing owners.
Best "beef bone soup" here. "french chicken" has smaller portion, not as tasty/enough sauce/fried as well. The prices have gone up (not much value anymore) and the food ingeneral is above average, but it's always lacking satisfaction. Their black bean sauce noodles are good.
The worst thing would probably be the service. There's usually only one server, she's in charge of all tables (when full, there are 10). Slow service due to lack of servers. Tea refill may take 10mins.
My friends brought me to this lovely home style cooking hole in the wall restaurant. They have this delicious dry noodle w/ this black coloured sauce (I am not doing justice to it & i cant remember what it was called). It's worth a second trip out there. There were lots of Korean families eating in here. I think the 4 of us went a bit overboard w/ ordering 3 of those dry noodles, 2 tofu pots, & a seafood pancake & some pop. I think this could have fed 6 people easily. The bill including tip was around $60. Cheap & yummy~
