Located in the food court at Oakridge Mall, Curry Express offers basic Indian food for shoppers and those on the go.
Glad to see that someone added Curry Express to the restaurant list. I've been here over 20 times for lunch and they always serve up an awesome butter chicken rice bowl. For $4.86 (including tax), you get a huge heaping of rice (or 1 large piece of naan) and your choice of one curry from a decent selection of about 12 curries (some vegetarian). Butter chicken is my favourite and it's almost sit-in restaurant quality. Just the right amount of spice without overwhelming your taste buds. For larger appetites, you can get rice, naan, two choices of curries, and a drink for about $7.75. Their chai tea is made to order and you receive it piping hot 10 minutes later. Great tea....it's the real thing because I'm awake all night from drinking it.
When you're at Oakridge and want a reprieve from the burgers and bad chinese food, try butter chicken (or other delectable curries) with a side of fresh naan.
This particular Curry Express is great. It tastes better than the Metrotown one, even their chai is better.
For under $8, you can get a cup of chai (made with real milk), two curries (I usually get butter chicken and peas with cheese) on basmati rice, and a freshly made piece of naan. It's the best thing you can get in terms of mall food. It tastes great (not too spicey, adapted to Canadian tastes) and it is satisfying. Food is energizing and easy to digest. No greasy lethargic feeling whatsoever afterward.
I really recommend it to everyone. Even if you don't want a drink, you can get combo A without a drink for a little over $7 (after taxes). Or if you want a very small meal/snack size, you need only spend about $5.
I just wanted to put out a good word for the Curry Express in Oakridge. They have good food, and not just 'good for a fast food place' good, but actually good.
Everytime I have gone the food is always so full of flavour and fresh, much unlike the lukewarm, tepid food you often find at food court places. They make their naan a little differently here than all the Indian restaurants I've gone to and I love it, it's chewy and yummy.
The staff behind the counter are also very nice, you can tell they take pride in serving good food.
