Currents serves a brunch buffet in the Westin Bayshore.
Its difficult to eat your fill at a buffet that charges 45 dollars per head. Yes, the food is pretty good, especially for a buffet. They have everything you could imagine from the standard fruit and light fare, breakfast classics including eggs benny, an omelette station, entree dishes such as veal and sole on rissoto, and seafood including crab and prawns. They even have a chocolate fountain. However, its difficult to justify spending $45 for a plate or two of food as it simply isn't spectacular. The value is mediocre.
The service staff is union and possibly as a result, a little indifferent.
I used to hold the Bayshore brunch in high regard. But with the recent raise in price, and outright bad service, I'm not sure I will rush back soon. The Buffet is amazing, featuring everything you would need to stuff yourself silly on Sunday morning. I do have to agree with the critic, in that $45 a head is just too much, and the value is lacking.
At $43 per person they have Sunday brunch from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The server was very efficient but found the brunch somewhat sparse. There were cold prawns in the shell, crab legs, mussels, steak, fish, different types of smoked salmon, chicken sausages (they don't have pork sausages anymore), bacon, eggs benedict, waffles, roasted peppers, mini croissant & danish, buns, cold salads and fruit plates, a roast pork which was kind of dry (they alternate roast beef and lamb each week), dessert consisted of squares, tarts, mini cakes and ladyfingers and a chocolate fountain. For the price, I expected there to be a bigger selection of hot food but was disappointed as it was mainly cold food. You get a great view but value is definitely lacking here. Can't recommend...
We went to Currents for brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. When all a server has to do for her table is provide beverages and clear plates, I think both should be done in a reasonable time frame. At $45 a person, there should also be a smile or two involved.
I can't say anything bad about the food - it is plentiful and tasty with a huge variety of dishes to choose from. I do agree with fella and thecritic though, there is no way I ate even close to $45 worth of food. Not very good value in my books.
