Cuiscene is a department store cafeteria located in Sears.
This modern and nicely decorated restaurant/cafeteria is inside Sears downtown. It was quiet when we were there last weekend, and the service was quite fast. Food was great. I am not a huge burger fan, but the teriyaki chicken burger I ordered was really good and substantial. The salad was fresh. I had an enjoyable lunch and would recommend this place.
I cannot count how many times I have come back to Cuiscene with my colleagues over the last few years. The soup and freshly made sandwiches are a fantastic ... and for the price charged, you just can't go wrong. Burgers (Canuck, mushroom..etc) are basic but done well and yes... it is possible to screw up burgers!
The only thing I can complain about are the fries served with burgers .. they are usually not crispy enough. This is an exceptionally minor complaint =)
I will be back with my colleagues.
This is my boyfriend's favourite place to go for lunch whenever we're downtown. Great alternative to fast food, and cheaper and faster than an actual restaurant like White Spot. A great deal with the Entertainment coupon too! Food is very good, tasty, filling. I wish it was a little cheaper, but it's not too bad.
Cuiscene is probably one of down-town Vancouver’s best kept secrets. It is awkwardly hidden on the fourth floor of the Sears store.
I've been going there for lunch on & off for a few years now.
Some colleges have shown me the place a few years back. Since then I try to go there when I have to work down-town. I've been told that they make almost everything form scratch which seems believable. All the times I've been there they have been serving consistently excellent food. Their daily specials are always interesting. I had the trout special the other day and it was outstanding. Prices are very reasonable. Almost everything is under $10.00. It's hard to find a deal like that down-town these days.
Too bad they don't have any windows. The restaurant itself is a bit drab, especially for this time of year. Sometimes we end up getting our lunch in a take-out container to take back to the office or find a place outside to eat. Service is usually friendly and pretty quick. I’ve bee told the will be closing by the end of summer, along with the Sears store, which is unfortunate. I will be back a few more times before then.
After going downtown in the morning looking for a breakfast place that was ultimately closed, we decided to check out Cuiscene, in Sears. We didn't go in expecting much, we figured that food at Sears was going to be predictable, but at least reliable. We were pleasantly surprised by what we tasted.
The breakfast special came with fruits that tasted really fresh, the eggs were done to a perfect over easy, and the seasoning on the hash browns was really yummy.
We also ordered the cajun chicken burger which had a lot of seasoning, but that just means more flavour!
Even though the restaurant is cafeteria style, they also bring the food right to your table, and quite quickly. They also come periodically to clean up, which was nice.
Honestly, this is a really decent place that is unfortunately hidden away, despite its very central and convenient location downtown. As a bonus, use the Entertainment book coupon and you can get a really cheap lunch downtown.
What a lovely surprise this was. The level of food choice and quality are great for a department store restaurant.
The prices seemed higher than elsewhere, but what we got is what we'd pay two or three times more for in higher end restaurants.
The cook said that they make all their own dressings. The Japanese dressing was out of this world.
It was very busy for a Wednesday lunch, but the food arrived at our table very quickly.
Cuiscene is an establishment to hit on a dreary wet day when there is little reason to be loitering outside. Situated on the 5th (i think) floor of sears, this tackily decorated cafeteria offers up some of the best values for sandwhiches in town. The staff is always friendlier tha pho' and they craft a tight sandwhich with a smile.
My family and I were in sears and decided to try it out because it was convenient. Nice place in terms of ambiance. Good service. Food was not good at all. Fries were oily and stale. Salad was wilted, and I am pretty sure that it came out of a bag. And my chicken burger was mediocre and drenched in mayo. soup was apparantly okay but nothing special. Maybe they were having a bad day but I won't be coming back to find out.
