Cosca Restaurant serves authentic home-style Sicilian cuisine in the West End.
figured i give this place a go and here's my review. it has a nice menu and the decor is nice if you're into the cozy hang out joint. I went by myself and sat at the bar and quickly stirred up a conversation with the bartender (owner)? seems they havent opened up here not too long ago. the food was real eye candy and they have a nice drinks list as well. definetely bring a date along to a place like this!!!
Our hotel concierge directed us to this little place around the corner for a quick bite. We had reasonable salads but our main courses were awful and the server did not seem to care. The linguini pesto had cream in it which is simply not how it should be made and the linguini with fish was equally poor. A word to the wise.
I ordered the Squid Ink Pasta with Diver Scallops and they are absolutely amazing. I've never had squid ink pasta before, nor had I heard of it before I came her. (I'm Asian, so you got to give me a break.) But the service from them was friendly, the host (or owner) greeted me at the door and introduce himself.
The pasta is wonderfully done, and I didn't pasta could taste so good. It seriously made me just sit and savour. \
Will I be back, you BET!
I was even told that they had a 3 course special for under $16 bucks between 4-6pm. I'm definitely heading back to try out the other pastas. Seriously this is a hidden gem on Denman.
Perfection does not happen often but it did last night. From the wonderful and warm welcome to the flourless chocolate Cherry torte -- COSCA has it all. Simply the best meal I have had in years. This place beats NYC’s Little Italy. The intimate space provides the opportunity for the staff to set the customer service and quality bar back where it should be – High. The Puttanesca with clams was hands down the best I have had anywhere in Canada or the US. Fresh not over salted the clams where soft and savory. The vegetarian pasta and mushroom with cream sauce as a dance of subtle perfection. There are few types of pasta that actually dance in the mouth, but this does so beautifully. The wine pairing recommended by the owner were spot on. Would go back daily if I could. Welcome back to what dining out should be – warmth, service, and lovely food.
Went for dinner on a rainy evening. The place is small and it was full, I had to sat at the bar. I wanted the artichoke soup, but was told it was not available that day. Ordered the stuffed chicken and a glass of Chianti. My food took a looooooong time to arrive, maybe near half an hour. It was good, a chicken breast stuffed with baby spinach and cheese, served with asparagus and a peppers and tomato sauce, only a bit too salty for me (at least, I want to think it was too much salt and not MSG). But because of the long wait I can not really say it was worth. The worst part came at the end: they didn't have tiramisu. They said it had sold out, but it was 6 or 7 pm. There was a line-up at the door, so maybe they wanted me to leave. I'm not sure I'd go back.
