Getting much better
By zahmira of East Vancouver, BC (1 Review)

My boyfriend and I constantly order take out from our favourite Indian restaurant, but this weekend decided to dine in since there was a new friendly server and the new management gives the place a totally different vibe. The food is still top notch, portions are great, and we LOVE the lamb curry and the naan is always near perfection. The very recent new owner came out and chatted with us as we were paying our bill. He told us about the forthcoming changes they're planning for the new year like a liquor license, weekly live music, renovations... and the least I can say is we're totally excited. We love the food and now we're going to have a new place on the drive to relax and have a bite to eat. Great food and now, service to match - and a new vibe.

They don't deliver anymore!
By DineOutPrincess of Hastings-Sunrise, Vancouver (15 Reviews)

We would order delivery from here quite regularly. Not because the food is the best but because it was consistent, we knew what we were getting, portions were good for the price - sadly, a rarity with Indian Cuisine. Delivery order was always simple to place on the phone with very little hassle. They have new owners sometime over the last year or so and have become consistently harder and harder to order delivery from often making mistakes. Something we never experienced with the previous owners. They have even been out of very popular food items at times as well. Tonight the woman who answered the phone told me rather sharply "we don't deliver anymore, only pick up". Well that just won't work for us. We are not in comfortable walking distance nor do we have a car. We are in easy delivery range however that means little as she promptly hung up. We are very very disappointed by this choice to not deliver anymore and not likely to even eat in house when we are in the neighbourhood. This place use to be rocking the delivery with very few in-house guests, their delivery guy constantly coming and going, I am sure this is not going to go over well with their, now ex-customers.

Delivery exists for people who are tired and it is too late to go out etc. If the in-house restaurant is still running, why not still deliver? Seriously bad choice for business folks.

sucker for their garlic naan
By hannahb of east van (1 Review)
Submitted Saturday, January 29, 2011 - 7:07pm [Dine in]

After all the bad reps that i saw posted for this joint I had to put my two cents in. Ive had a few dishes here, and not all are winners, but some are consistently great- lamb kurma has super tender lamb and a wonderful delicate sauce, vegetable kurma is packed with veggies, mutter paneer is decent, and the butter chicken, while unimaginative-is also pretty decent. But I gotta say, who orders butter chicken at an Indian restaurant anyway? For a cuisine well known for its amazing spices, why go for the simplest recipe?

Finally the naan- im a real garlic lover, so I really cant get enough of their garlic naan. BIg stretchy pieces, crispy in some parts, tender in others, fired up in the tandoori oven, and slathered with tons of garlic butter. so dope. also they deliver which is great.

Really Terrible Food - We'll Never Go Back!
By djoe of vancouver (23 Reviews)
Submitted Sunday, August 8, 2010 - 6:30pm [Dine in]

After reading the reviews we thought "we can take not much atmosphere in exchange for some decent food". Only problem is the food is worse than the atmosphere. The butter chicken tasted like Campbells tomato soup with cream and dried chicken.

The vegetable pakoras had to have been deep fried a week earlier and then re-deep fried for us - they were so dry it was almost comical. The rice tasted like ultra-plain (i mean not even a drop of salt) white rice - not even basmati rice. The pea and paneer dish was the best of the bunch - if beige peas are appealing I suppose.

The garlic naan was old dry crunch bread that was lathered in raw garlic and butter. Nothing like waking up the next morning with terrible over-the-top garlic breath. It is just a bad reminder of the terrible meal you ate the night before.

We will most definitely not be back! The Indian food at Oakridge mall is 10 x's better than this was and that's just a food fair for crying out loud.

I am disappointed that people think that this is good food, come on people has no one even had remotely good Indian food before? Try the Indian restaurant in White Rock (I think it's called Little India) and then tell me you still think this is even close to be good.

Paid a visit to Corner Tandoori since they advertised on my VISA dining network and gave it a try. Ordered the butter chicken with garlic naan. I must say, the food is fresher than Tandoori Palace (couple blocks north of this place). The food was steaming hot and I had to order extra naan to scoop the left over butter chicken sauce. The water tasted a bit funny, probably need a filter change. Note to self to try their mango lassi there next time.
I agree with the previous reviewer, the decor is AWFUL! Plastic fruits and vegetables hanging off a fence-like white board.

Good Food, bad Ambience....

I went there by myself 2 days in a row, the first day I went there I tried Chicken Chilli which was AWESOME, and that's why I craved for it again the next day. So the 2nd day I tried their Prawn Vindaloo.

First lets talk about the Chicken Chilli, I love their level of spice, the sauce is just awesome to go with rice, I prefer having rice instead of naan because you can really taste the sauce.

Then comes the Prawn Vindaloo, I really love their thick sauce, especially with potato in it. I expected it would be terribly thirsty for me after the spice, but it turns out it's way better than I expected.

The setback is the decoration, it really needs an extreme makeover. It's not like you would bring a date to, but if you are looking for good food I would go there, and maybe I would order take out instead (10% off from 12pm - 4pm)

You can taste the quality and care taken by the cooks at Corner Tandoori...so far we've tried the:

Vegetable Somosas: crisp pastry, flavourful filling, spiced just right

Chicken Tikka & Naan: Boneless pieces of breast meat cooked with the right seasonings...not to dry...also the naan is fluffy and huge compared to other resturants

Seekh Kabab: we've tried this dish at many resturants but at Corner Tandoori their kababs melt in your mouth.

Daal Tarka: mild flavours that are pleasing to the palate..

So- we tried 3 dishes.
the chicken tikka was good
the butter chicken was very good.
also good and were enjoyable by the kids (small ones)
the sikkh Kebab- was a little bit without spices. I had much better in other cuisines. but the portion was generous.
we paid all together less then 27$
defenitily well worth the money.
