Vancouver's longest established cookie store, since 1984. Serving cookies, muffins, and organic fairly traded coffee and teas. Also office delivery and wholesale cookie and muffin batter.
Been thinking about this place because of all the great reviews here. I'm not usually around SFU but fortunately I was around that area few days ago. It was around 5ish and they're still opened! It was my first time so I ordered 2 of chocolate chip, peanut butter & oatmeal. The decadent chocolate was sold out. I really want to try that next time. I shared the cookies w/ the family so I only got a bite of chocolate chips. It was pretty good! Slightly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Not bad of a combo. I hate to admit it but it might be better than Cookies by George. Cookies Of Course is more affordable. $5.75 for 1/2 dozen while George is like $1.35 each and it's smaller in size. And they're not always fresh. Ouch.
Also the service is better. The young girl that was working there was very friendly and smiley. It's rare you get that service anywhere!
I took classes at SFU Harbour Centre and during the evening break almost half the class would troop out for a snack or coffee from here. My absolute favorite treat was the yummy low fat raspberry yogurt muffin! I really liked that it was a healthier choice as well.
I miss my student days, and I miss this kiosk, glad to see others raving about this place. It looks like prices have stayed the same as well, great deal. They usually have an evening cookie and coffee special as well.
With the new TimHo installed at Harbour Centre, I'm glad this place is still getting business as it is much better then TimHo.
I completely agree with the previous review. These ARE the best cookies I've ever had. I was looking for a hostess gift for the weekend and debating on whether to get them here or over at Cookies by George. I'm so glad I supported this local shop.
Box of 6 cookies at George's = $12. Box of 13 cookies here = $10 (and on Friday's, it's only $8.50!)
These cookies are super soft and boxed still warm. The owner is very environment-friendly and very helpful. I told him I was travelling by ferry, and after a jokingly lecture on saving plastic from landfills, he lined my box of cookies to prevent grease soak-up on the box.
My favorite cookie was the choco chunk (best eaten warm!), closely followed by the dark choco cranberry. Also extremely good were the oatmeal raisin, triple choco, and this one with cashews and butterscotch chips...HECK! They're all good!!
I was able to enjoy these cookies all weekend long and even by Monday, they were still soft! Definitely return for more...on Fridays.
They also sell dough by the tub!
I was at SFU downtown and I was craving a snack. I remembered a previous esteemed reviewer spoke favourably about this place so I looked for the goodies. After a little searching I found C of C. The service was quick and friendly, the ambience was, well, a food kiosk, and the cookies were great, which is fortunate since cookies are the point of this place.
I had a peanut butter chocolate and an oatmeal raisin. The cookies were light and fluffy (if that is the right word) and tasted great. I had intended to give one of the cookies to Mrs. C, but I was overcome by gluttonous greed and ate them in the car. Sorry honey!
The coffee that I had was not so good, but they had lots of flavours, so I probably picked the wrong one.
I will be back for more!
Wow, I thought it was just me who loved these cookies! This place is a real gem-- a little kiosk in Harbour Centre near SFU downtown, and they have the best cookies I've had anywhere in the lower mainland. I'm an amateur baker myself and I would like to know how they get the cookies crispy on the outside yet so soft. The chocolate chunk (my favorite) have a texture almost like a peanut-butter cookie. I live in Burnaby now so am rarely downtown, but I make a point of stopping by this place whenever I'm in the neighborhood.
First of all, I absolutely love the chocolate chip muffins at this place, and I agree with everyone else that the muffins are DEFINiTELY way better than TimmyHo's. However, the last time I went there, I wanted to purchase 1/2 a dozen chocolate chip muffins for my kids and I, and so I ordered 6 of the muffins. However, the guy who was behind the counter was such a jerk! First he thought that I wanted to purchase 1/2 a muffin, i mean how can anyone buy 1/2 a muffin? So then I told him, 6 MUFFINS PLEASE! He then demanded to know Why I wanted 6 muffins, and he kept on telling me that He was not going to make anymore muffins. I was like, Do I really care? I just want to buy the 6 freakin muffins and leave! So then I bought the 6 muffins and left. So I probably won't ever go back, I mean, the majority of the people who work there are pretty nice, but that guy just irritated and embarassed me so much, that I would not come back, even though I work in the office upstairs. I would probably go to TimmyHo's to get a muffin, it won't taste that good, but at least I won't get harassed for buying 6 muffins!
Enthusiastic staff, best cookies I've ever had! What a nice change from Mctimbucks. Support your small local coffee bar. The mall it's in is no great deal, (Harbour Centre at the SFU downtown campus) but still worth looking for for sure. You would think that cookies were a retro 80's sort of thing, but this place has lasted for a reason. Same owner since day one.
