Went out last night to celebrate a friend’s birthday and wanted to go somewhere nice with good food and wine. We choose UVA wine bar to have some cocktails and then the adjacent restaurant Cibo for dinner.
Our reservations were for 8 p.m. so we met friends for cocktails just before 8. We were told our table would be a little late, no worries we would drink at the bar. We all had a couple of drinks which arrived all at different times and seemed to take a long time to make!
A hostess came to get us for our table 9 p.m. hmmmm an hour to wait for our reservation.
When we were seated we were hungry and ordered a bunch of appies, zucchini Carpaccio, chickpea friti, buffalo mozzarella, and clams. We could not believe the poor presentation of the food and the lack of it. The plates they were served on looked like the ones you get from liquidation world that no else wants. The zucchini was raw, flavorless, with a few pine nuts thrown on top. The prosciutto and melon was a plate of meat thrown on and all different sizes a huge piece as big as the plate and then a piece as big as your little finger. The melon was hacked and thrown in the middle. The chick pea friti was two tiny triangles served on sauce the size of a loonie. The buffalo cheese was three small pieces thrown on a plate with a few green tomatoes and I counted three small torn pieces of fresh basil.
The taste was bland and very unfresh.
The service was very slow although everyone smiled a lot. We were brought our first food at 10 p.m. When we asked for bread because we waited so long it was toasted baguette slices, Panini style cut in half with butter on it. They were as hard as hockey pucks.
When we let the manager know about our shock and disappoint he seemed surprised.......................
I would very strongly recommend that you do not waste an evening dinning here
