We love the cheese cake here. Dropped in just to take a look at this tiny chocolate shop. We didn't eat chocolate but the cheese cake looked delicious. One bite in confirmed it. The guy behind the counter was very friendly, the service was polite and prompt. What more can you ask for. Might just become a regular. Ambiance was okay & clean. No restrooms to be seen though.

It really was loose tea

I came here before a comedy night a couple weeks ago, but unfortunately, I did not have what they're famous for - chocolate.
I ordered a roiboos tea and a tequila truffle for my boyfriend. His report on the truffle was that it was good, but no distinct tequila flavor.
My tea was good. Very flavorful - enough so that I did not need any sugar. The tea came in a bodum with steamed milk. However, there wasn't any additional filter and with the leaves of roiboos being so fine, there were tons of floaties in my cup. So much that I had to re-evaluate the purpose of a strainer.

The place is small, but very clean. I do have to question how a party would be able to enjoy a fondue here though. There's only a few small tables. I guess it's better for couples, not groups.

Service was friendly, but after paying for my tea and truffle, I noticed on the menu that there was a feature special: buy a drink and get a discounted truffle. I was charged the full amount for both. It's a minor detail, but if you're going to put it on special, the customer shouldn't have to point it out.

I may be back to try the fondue since I am a sucker for choco fondue, but their prices are pretty high and parking is not so easy to come by, I may have to leave it until I'm already in the neighbourhood. I wouldn't purposely go back.

We need more like Chocoatl!

With all the coffee and juice and bubbletea shops around town, you'd think someone would start a chain of hot chocolate stores or simply add more variety and quality hot chocolates on their existing tea/coffee menu.

For now, there seems to be only Chocoatl for hot chocolate lovers. I would recommend you try each of the different ones they have to offer and taste how they are distinctly different from the other, though, for myself, I'd avoid the white chocolate one (I forget what the exact mix/name was for that with some sort of fruit(s) added). I do love my fruit loops, but only cold, served in milk, and with a bit of crunch to it, but the white chocolate drink tasted like hot liquid fruit loops--this might be good news to you Fruit Loops lovers all over who may want to have it any which way possible!

Because this is the only place so far that I know of that offers as much variety and quality of hot chocolate in town, maybe they are deserving of a 4 in the rating, however, it doesn't offer as satisfying an experience as I had hoped or maybe I just wanted to top it with ice cream or whipped cream or something to possibly "ruin" it in the eyes of a connoisseur of fine chocolates, but it's the way I like to enjoy most of mine--nice, rich, thick and leaving me wanting for more. That's probably why I am still on my life's quest for the perfect cup of hot cocoa...

That aside, the truffles, etc, that's also sold here, I find them to be a little too sweet and not satisfying enough to entice me to look at anything but the drink menu offerings ever after.

You HAVE to try this place! A friend took me there and I'd gone back again and again after (note: I live in Coquitlam! So this must be good!) The owners are very friendly and informative. They really took time to explain to us the different kinds of chocolates they have and what the difference is with each one. My favourite beverage is the rose hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. Mmmmm.... just thinking about it makes me want to go again this weekend :) I hope this store will branch out to more locations. Oh, by the way, this site spelt the store name wrong... it's supposed to be "Chocoatl" :)
