Cats Socialhouse is dedicated to the art of presenting exceptional cuisine in our own stylish and unique setting. We’d like to think we simplify the dining experience, integrating fresh food and cheerful service in a relaxed environment.
The creative menu is comfort food inspired, fusing west coast cuisine with our very Vancouver ethnic influences. We offer a great selection of appetizers, full sized main courses and fun desserts, we also serve a delicious brunch menu on the weekends and holidays.
My wife and I go to Granville Island a fair bit and this particular evening in September we just missed the lounge at Granville Island Hotel. It had closed early so the two of us went to the Cats Meow it was about 9:30 pm.I have passed the place several times and thought it looked like an interesting place to go for a drink and a bite.We got there and were directed to either the patio or inside so we chose the patio. There was one other table of 6 there and only about a dozen or so people inside. We waited and waited no one came to serve us.Finally I went in to the bar and got the drinks myself brought them out to the table by the time we finished them we still did not have a waitress come out to see if we wanted menus etc. We were going to order some food but got fed up and decide to go inside and pay.Even that proved to be a big pain. The bartender was off in the corner chatting up some people while the waitresses they did have were nowhere in sight.I finally got his attention and had the big honour to pay my bill. This place has the location and ambience to do well it just misses the mark by a long shot, the joint needs a major overhaul ie personell shakeup. As the song goes,"send in the clowns, don't bother there here"! So appropriate.
This was the worst service I'd ever received at a resturaunt. Understandbly they were busy because of Canada day, but it took about 15 minutes after being seated before we were able to order our drinks, another 15 before someone actually came to take our food order. When she did take our food order our waitress didn't even know what the day's special was. Not once during our meal did anyone come to ask if we needed anything else, and we were seated right in front of the bar, where all the waitresses had to dance around to serve other people!
The food was rather good, portions were good, and if you dare to go there on a sunday the pasta special is a good deal. Still, if the waitresses spent as much time on learning the menu and serving the customers as they do on figuring out how slutty they can look to earn tips it might be a better place to dine, and they wouldn't have to complain about being left crappy tips. Sorry girls but I don't tip based on how short your skirt is. I definately won't be going back there again.
It was Mother's Day, sat outside. The wait staff very friendly and helpful. The food was fabulous, piping hot and good portions of food.
The four of us were quite happy with our food choices, myself and hubby ordered the thai dish, I ordered it with prawns and counted 8, was happy with that, hubby had it with chicken and he said the chicken was tender.
My sister ordered the pizza and my mother ordered the fettucini. Extra water was bought to the table, extra cutlery bought to the table. The dessert is to die for and not overly sweet and very light. We want to go back and try the burgers and the yam fries.
Shockingly Cool women. If all the restaurants in Granviile are this good then you have truly been missing out on a fantastic area. The food was excellent. the fish for dinner is fabuolus. If you don't already know the difference between trendy and wanna-be you soon will. I wasn't taking someone for lunch so went for it, and if you wanna look at some pretty girls this place wont disappoint. If you like order one of the plates here. Wow. The thin girls were truly gorgeous. Blondes, view, food, drinks, love Vancouver
For starters (I guess) it is not the restaurant's fault although they are responsible for controlling their customer's behaviour that we didn't have a good time. We were having a night out and two tables down the 'men' tried to pick us up. Who does restaurant or public pick ups anymore? Goodness. What do they think we are lazy easy women? Really left a sour taste in our mouth.
The view from the angle is actually very very nice. We could see some water and the lights across the creek. The night was clear and the view was a mixture of city and nature. It was nice to stare.
Food was OK and the seafood combo had enough portion on it but it is not going to come cheap. Remember where you are. But I have to add that it was a surprise how much parking there was. We had expected a horror and parking was not any problem.
We went here on the weekend and were very unimpressed. We waited at the door for about 15 minutes before someone came and greeted us. The only reason we stayed was because everywhere else was full and we were starving. Then when we were greeted, the host told us we would have to wait some more because his server upstairs was to stressed out to take another table. It wasn't to busy and even if they were to stressed to take in another table they could have least kept it to themselves. Our food was ok. I had a deeply imbedded hair in the chip dip. My friend had a random french fry on her plate, a whole cherry tomato in her sandwich, another friend had pine nuts in her caeser salad (when non mentioned on menu). Anyways, the overall experience was not pleasant and I will never go back.
I just want to say that if you like crabcakes, this is the place you've got to go. I suppose this is the place to see and be seen in the evening, but if your more casual folk, a lunch time seafood feast is also a great idea. The shrimps are plump and juicy, and don't forget dessert! Aye carumba! Check it out.
This is a great place to grab a bite to eat while shopping on Granville Island (One of the many!) But, it is even better on weekend nights for cocktails. Although you usually have to wait for a table, it is worth it. The crowd is young and attractive, the food is good and the service is great.
I was in this past weekend for late evening drinks. The weather was great and the place was extremely busy. However, our waitress was great... cannot complain about the service. However, the mussels this time around were mediocre. Come on... you are on Granville Island... if nothing else, the seafood dishes should be outstanding all the time!!!
Nevertheless, great place to go for weekend drinks before heading out to the clubs.
