Cartel Taco is a street vendor serving Korean bulgogi tacos with fresh sauces & salsas, tender meat from ethically-treated animals, and handmade tortillas.
I went to the taco cart today for take away lunch.
Note that it is located at the corner of Hamilton and Dunsmuir this summer.
I ordered both types of tacos that they have: pork and beef. Both come with choice of toppings; cilantro and onions; kimchi, chipotle tomato salsa, tomatillo salsa, lime and orange to squirt. I had everything on mine (only one salsa on each: tomatillo salsa on pork, chipotle on beef).
It was fantastic. The meat was extremely flavourful and the kimchi and salsa combo added such a burst of flavour that each bite was a full meal deal.
Messy though. Glad that I took it back to the office rather than try to eat on a bench.
Three tacos for $8. Very standard pricing for the taquerias that are springing up around Gastown/downtown.
