Cafe Luxy beats every other restaurant of it's type.

What can I not rave about?

Staff: Awesome. Friendly, not at all intrusive, accommodating, unpretentious.

Food: You can't pick a wrong item. They're all good in their own way. My personal favorite is the Tortellini Pollo alla Pesto, with Pancetta subbed for the chicken. It's stellar, and at around $7 for lunch including salad and garlic bread or $14 for a (2 days of leftovers) heaping dinner portion, you can't get any better.

The tiramisu rocks. You have to try it.

Ambiance: This is the comfiest, most lovely place. Bring a date, bring your family, bring yourself...everyone is welcome and comfortable in this warm, quiet restaurant.

My favorite place in Vancouver whenever I need some consistently great food, relaxed service, and super-reasonable pricing.

Go to Cafe Luxy!!!

Out of this world pasta.

This intimate cafe is one of my favourite spots in Vancouver. The pasta is fresh and the sauce is to die for. The gal who has regularly waited on us has been there for several years. We have hit her on both good and bad days. I don't let this stop me from making this one of my favourite spots for a great meal.

It's the good stuff

Cafe Luxy was a reall find. I came on this site to search out an Italian place which wouldn't cost $30-$50 a plate and still have great food. Cafe Luxy certainly fit the bill.

They have about 50 different pasta dishes to choose from. They also have a decent wine list (even organic). Furthermore, salad and break come with your food for no extra, which is becoming more and more rare.

The Cafe is intimate and from looking at the chefs, the food is prepared by Italians!

We highly recommend it!

Made reservations because it was Saturday but we went early, so they were not needed. Only a few customers were inside when we arrived. By the time we left, the place was full with a small line waiting at the door.

The waiter was attentive and let us ponder our food choices. Even as the place began to fill up, he came back to our table frequently. The drinks, appitizers, and food came quickly.

I read the earlier comment about mussels and sure enough, someone in our party ordered them to share. They were not as fresh I would have liked. The ceasar salad and bread which came with the dinner were good. The pasta in all of the dishes was overcooked: cooked a minute or two less would have been perfect. There was too much sauce also and the scallops were tiny and infrequent. The portions are generous and we had to package up some pasta to take home. The wine we had was excellent, recommended by our waiter.

The decor, table, laybout is good. My only negative comment on this apsect is that when the place began to fill, the ambient noise level rose.

So an acceptable meal for the price. I was disappointed by the pasta. Get that right and I'll come back for more but for now, I'll come back and try their breakfast menu.

Nicest Place in Davie Village

I honestly think this is the nicest restaurant in the Village. It's ellegant, comfortable and cozy. Excellent pastas at a reasonable price too. I recently had the Osso Buco, which was excellent, the meat was fall off the bone tender, and very flavourful. I love osso buco, and have had it at other restaurants where is tough and bland.
My date had the chorizo pasta, which was nice and spicy, but not overly spicy.
The service is very attentive and friendly.
Nice little room, I would only like it if the seating was more comfortable, and the room a little quieter.

Good healthy portions of pasta (great flavor), caesar salad (very good house-made dressing) and garlic bread (warm, fresh and tasty) for lunch, at under $8! Everything was so yummy and the waiter/bartender was really nice and professional. I'm SO glad I work just a few blocks from here! My only fear is I'll be coming here for lunch so often now that I found this place, the bartender might think I'm stalking him, but I just really love pasta, promise!

The pasta is good - huge variety to chose from. You get a salad with your meal. Lunch is a good deal. For brunch, it's like any other brunch places. The service is pretty good as long as you don't get the owner. If it wasn't for the other waiters/waitresses and the taste of the pasta, I would not go back.

My daughter and I were wandering along Davie looking for a place for lunch, and happened upon the Luxy. We were greeted by our server, and chose a table by the window. I enjoyed the special, and it was amazing. A nice linquine with a cream sauce included caesar salad and bread for $7.95. a great deal for home made pasta. Service was great. We will definately be back. The only downfall was when I went to check out their website, It totally crashed my computer. I am assuming their website was hijacked by some-one, So beware, If you want to go here, it is great, just dont check out there website.

i chose this place because it has good ratings on the web, but it turns out to be a really bad dinning experience for me and my friends. one of the servers (i think she could be the manager) is not friendly at all, and she "forced" us to sit at separate tables even when we told her some of us would prefer to sit together, and the entire place was empty at that time. i ordered a lasagna supreme and it was way too cheesy, and the lasagna is just pieces of really thick uncooked dough layered with ketchup in between. i think those frozen pasta at superstore taste way better than theirs and i can get 4 of those with what i paid in luxy. i would never go back or recommend this restaurant to any of my friends.

Cafe Luxy is the most unpretentious place on Davie. The cream walls and dark wood bar, along with the warm lights and plentiful mirrors, make the place a low-key, elegant locale where you can wear jeans or a suit or a dress and feel at completely relaxed.

The service is great; the servers tend to stay on with the business and they get used to the clientele (which is varied - everything from local couples to tourists). Your waiter or waitress can tell if you're feeling chatty or if you need some privacy and they somehow always get it right.

The portions are huge. You will be taking some home with you. Given the size they could easily charge 50% more than they do, so the value is fabulous. Although the menu hasn't changed much, they offer dozens of varieties of pasta, so you're never stuck with the Same Old Thing.

I appreciate the salad beforehand, but I'm no fan of garlic bread. Don't judge by the appetizer; it's practically garnish. The pasta is the reason to eat here. Go once and the odds are you'll be back for more.

Great Pasta

I've been to Cafe Luxy 4 times now. Each time I've tried a different pasta dish and have been extremely happy with it. The portions are very generous for its price especially that it comes with a small caesar salad and garlic bread. The pasta itself is just so fresh and sauces are delicious. However for some good there is some bad; in this case the service. Maybe it was us, but each time we were served by the same woman, and she is not very polite, not attentitive, and not friendly. It may be because they are short staffed and always busy.

I tried their "famous" tiramisu - and i love desserts - but for that price i could've done without. (sorry!) Anyways, just go for the pasta! Be careful too, there is a charge if you substitute a short pasta for a long pasta (ex: penne to linguine)
