Breakfast and lunch with a large number of vegetarian and vegan choices. Some menu items include Breakfast Burrito, Eggs Bruschetta, Tofu Scramble, Eggs-In-The-Hole, Simple Breakfast, Granola, Pancakes and Waffles.
Went for brunch with my 4yr old son for his birthday as read the place was kid friendly. That may be so, but food quality + taste was lacking (even for veg), the place was dirty, and the servers seem like pot heads waiting impatiently for their next smoke break and not really interested in much else. Basically a cafeteria rather than a restaurant. Would not recommend nor go back.
This place has potential, even if I don't like the whole "get your own cutlery" thing. I mean, how cheap are they to have all the sugar at one table? What a pain spilling my tea back in forth.
I ordered the Eggs Benedict, and boy was I surprised. The eggs were *over-easy*. Huh? They're supposed to be steamed. If that weren't enough, the english muffin was not toasted, and the hollandaise was as thin as soup.
The veggie ham tasted good, but the artificial smoke flavour had me committing chemical warfare for about 18 hours. If you don't like real meat, cool, but don't serve me junk food like that.
The staff were friendly, but the food was a joke. The time prior to that, it was better. The problems and lack of professionalism are clear, however.
I love this place, the staff are friendly the food is tasty and always prompt. They have specialty coffee on par with the higher end coffee shops on the drive. Amazing hash browns, like seriously AMAZING. As a previous reviewer stated you do have to go get your own cutlery but this adds to the overall ambiance. Overall they have good food, great staff and a great atmosphere. Definitely a staple to the commercial drive lifestyle!
When I go to Cafe Du Soleil, I think of a cute little breakfast place that always knows what I want. Their french toast is the best and the people are always so sweet. They have a nice arrangement of fruit on the side. I also really like how one plate is never the same. A nice brunch place if you have time on the weekend.
I love this place - I hope I've got the right Cafe du Soleil (as there's also Cafe Deux Soleil or something like that, on the drive).
This is a terrific place for breakfast. They have a play area for kids and a great selection of vegetarian breakfasts. Everything tastes fresh here and I really like it whenever they are baking!
It's a terrible trick, but they bake these magnificent muffins and leave them on the counter by the cash register to cool... ; ) I always end up buying extra muffins to take home when they do this - they smell so good that I can't walk away and I end up giving them as gifts!
I usually come here to meet friends for breakfast. The staff are warm and laid back, and I love the coffee, teas, and yerba (I believe) they serve. The only point of criticism I have is that the benches in the booths are a bit uncomfortable, too stiff.
All is else is great!
a run down hippy style place..but it does have good food..only you if you sre able to carefully and patiently guide the a bit disoriented staff onto WHAT you actually want them to make for you..
if you like commercial drive ambience this place is funky and has live concerts at nights sometimes
surprisingly good breakfasts and vegetarian dishes..but again sometimes preparation is sloppy.
very bad cleanliness level..cutlery often dirty and left up to you to look for.So to summarise..Eat at your own risk..I did ..and i survived..but i cannot promise that i will do it too often..after all..if you just go up or down commercial there is plenty of better places to eat..why risk your health?cheers to everybody
