TRULY HORRIBLE SERVICE IN THIS LOCATION!
GO TO DOWNTOWN LOCATION!
My girlfriend and I have been to a few cafe crepe in Vancouver and this location is honestly the worst. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and a savory crepe. The pizza was not fully cooked. The crepe had no flavor. But the worst is their service. No smile whatsoever. We are usually very nice to our server since he/she handles our food, but they are just ridiculous in this location. We waited for the bill for about 10 minutes and when it arrived, we had our debit card out and we told her we will pay by debit. Guess what? We waited another 10 minutes for her to bring the portable debit machine over. No apologize, no smile, no thank you.
I would definitely never come back to this location again. Even if the downtown location is out of my way, I would go there instead. Much better service, quality of food and most important of all I feel welcomed there.
My friend and I were walking past Cafe Crepe last week and saw a sign advertising a burger and a beer for $10! We popped in and each ordered the special which included a glass of Granville Island beer of our choice. We both got the Heffeweizen, my fav. The burgers came out in about 10 minutes and the portions were huge. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much food we got for 10 bucks plus a beer! We ended up sticking around and ordering another pitcher of beer which was less than $13 and chatting with the friendly staff. This might just have to be my new hangout.
I live in the area and never knew this place served breakfast. The Egg Benedict are amazing and so is the coffee. The service was quick and friendly and the manager seems to always be on the floor. I love this place, it is nice and cozy and has great prices. The nutella crepe is wonderful if you feel like being bad. Great place to just hangout with some buddies.
We visit Cafe Crepe often and the food is consistently, reliably, great. I guess it's not rocket science to make a crepe, but I must commend them for doing it right every time. The only downside is the crepes are so big and filling, I never have enough room for both a sweet and a savoury, and it's so hard to choose!
Recently their service has been a little lacking. They always have a help wanted posting on the door and it seems like nobody working there is in charge. The staff is joking around together at the front. I guess it's glorified fast food, so this level of service may be acceptable for long-term.
I'd like to mention that this is my first restaurant review, I've never felt so compelled to complain about anything until now..
Reasons why I'll never visit Cafe Crepe again:
1) Filthy restaurant - floors were a mess, tables were dirty, my coffee cup was stained with old drip marks
2) $5.00 for a large "freshly squeezed" orange juice that clearly came from a can (I squeeze my own so I know what to expect)
3) Hair on my plate
4) Cold crepes (the melted cheese went hard again)
5) Over priced, cheap fruit bowl - soggy melons and wrinkled grapes just don't cut it any more
6) Service was slooooooow
7) Did I mention that the restaurant was filthy!!!
8) Upon leaving, a server almost spilled two cups of hot coffee on my feet, no "excuse me" or apologies
This restaurant has clearly been cutting corners. It's not well run, and it seems the management/owner have lost all pride in their business, which is a shame because when Cafe Crepe first opened, it was a real pleasure to dine there =(
Hopefully someone from the restaurant will take notice and read all the terrible reviews. Start making some changes Cafe Crepe... shape up!!
I was at this location on Thursday June 10th, and was very displeased with what I had to experience. As my server (who was very lovely and attentive), was rushing around as the lunch rush seemed to be starting. She was approached by some guy who seemed to be in charge, he was talking to her and very quickly after his talking turned into an argument.
She was trying to attend to her section where we were seated, and he followed her while yelling at her infront of customers. This extremely unproffesional manor shocked us! As we watched, he was yelling that he would be writting her up and she must listen to him and obey him. I don't know about you, but I have never seen a manager of any sort act this way towards an employee infront of customers.
Luckily another young man was there to interveen and ask them to take it to the back because the manager was emberassing the staff. I have to agree with him, it is quite emberassing to them seeing as we most defenately will not be going back if that is how management treats their staff. Hopefully that wonderful server gets herself a new job! She deserves better treatment.
And as for my friends..... I will be telling them all not to return to Cafe Crepe due to their poor staff treatment. Shame on them!
I will never go back!
I've been a regular of Cafe Crepe for a quick lunch, but recently tried their breakfasts. For less than $10, you get 3 eggs (omega 3), bacon or sausage and a crepe (I tried apple sauce and it was lovely) and they have always had good coffee. For South Granville, it's also a treat that they open at 8 am, so if you're hungry early, you don't need to wait until 9:00 for the other neighborhood joints. They could improve their hashbrowns, which were the shredded type, but overdone.
Was here for breaky in what seems to be a very busy location.
Now I can talk and criticize all I want here but if they are busy, then there must be a reason why.
Was here last sunday and found it to be laking in service completely. NOt enough servers were on hand in my opinion and I felt neglected all throughout. If I have to wave my server down more than half a dozen time for little things then in my opnion. That's not good service.
My omelette was good but I felt rushed, and never at ease throughout my experience.
Go here if you want a quick breakfast in and out. But not to relax and unwind on a nice Sunday.
I actually dined there a while ago and forgot to write a review.
Cafe Crepe is without a doubt depending on curious tourists' money to survive. Their locations are where the traffic is. People walk by and get a crepe and only to find out they get ripped off.
For the price you pay around $5-$6, you get a ridiculous tiny crepe, only suitable for a child. And it's overcooked. They are incredible stingy. It's a barebone cafe selling cafe food but they don't want to fill you up.
The service is horrible. The are under staffed and under trained. You have to wait for a long long time to see a waiter coming to you. You also wait forever to get a lousy crepe.
Ambiance? Every customer looks pissed. I bet it's the waiting makes them not very happy. Not so much decor, it's minimum and cramped. Very uncomfortable to sit inside.
I believe it's the fake European theme attracts innocent victims/customers. There's nothing European or French about it. It's false advertising. And you think crepe is simple food with simple ingredients so it should be inexpensive. Think again! Dishonest merchants never fail to rob you.
I'm really surprized there's so many people saying there's bad service to this place, but maybe I just got lucky. I went there just the other night and I had great service. We sat down and the servers brought our menu. When we ordered the waitress was really nice and brought our bill at just the right time and split our bill with no problem or hassle at all. Our food came quickly as well. I ordered the caramel crepe and it was pretty good. My friend had something with tuna in it - it was even better. We also ordered a plate of fries and it was only $4. Fries were good and fresh too.
But, a can of pop was $2 and crepes were expensive, yes, but I expected that for cafe crepe. On the otherhand, if there's any other place anyone knows to get a really good crepe, let me know, cause the best crepes I've had were always at cafe crepe.
I eat out everynight and as anyone who knows me I like to experience anything new and exciting. I decided one night to take my date for a crepe after a movie we had just seen and get a chance to talk to each other. We both ordered crepes and she ordered a nuttella milkshake and I ordered a chocolate milkshake. We had a good time flirting and talking and the mood in the place was just right, until the bill came. I have a keen eye for details and noticed a higher price for my girls nuttella milkshake. I kindly asked to see a menu before I made any kind of a fuss just to ensure that I was correct. Sure enough the milkshake was listed at $4.00 and so was mine. So i enquired with my server as the mistake on the bill and she told me it was becuase the shake was nuttella. I pointed out the menu pricing and still she said it was what it was. I asked to talk to the manager. I really didn't want my date to go this bad. I was hoping on taking the long way home with my girl just to spend more time with her. The manager said that the bill was what it was and wouldn't simply correct the difference, even though the menu clearly stated the price. I paid the bill and my girl asked me to take her home. There went my long way home idea. I haven't been back to a cafe crepe since. All of this over $0.75 cents.
After a little shopping on South Granville, decided on a late afternoon snack (4pm). I have walked by this crepe place numerous times and decided to go in.
Had to get the attention of the wait staff to be seated, she was too busy chatting with a coworker. I don't think I am invisible but guess to her I was.
Once seated had to get the attention of another waitress. She was serving a table of six across the narrow way but ignored us even though that table was not decided on what to order.
After 15 minutes of being invisible, we decided to walk out.
It was not busy so not sure why the waitress was so slow, she had a chance to take the drink order at least and then come back to the party of 6.
The success of a good place is price, food, service.
The crepes looked great but the service was so poor I don't think it a go for me.
We visit Cafe Crepe often and the food is consistently, reliably, great. I guess it's not rocket science to make a crepe, but I must commend them for doing it right every time. I have been to Cafe Crepe many times and I must say their food and atmosphere is great. It is something different from a typical restaurant and it's a cozy place to hang out, especially on a cold rainy night. I will continue to visit this restaurant.
