Pretty Good

I recently visited the restau, after seeing the review in The Province, and I must say that it was accurate. Not in one of my more adventurous moods, I settled on something that I would be able to compare to other places. What they call the Buddy Burger. I must admit it was delishious, and will be making a return visit when I am in the neighbourhood. It isn't a 5 star restaurant, but it is good place for good food for lunch or breakfast.

I would like to add a little comment with regards to the previous reviewer. It seems they had a bad experience, but from what I can tell, they have worked out their glitches, and it would be worth giving them a second chance.... as they do seem to be truely interested in the feedback, and providng good food and service.

Here is an odd place tucked away on the east side on East Georgia just of Clark. Driving by on an over cast day, on my way to commercial drive I spot this little welcoming cafe in what is, well, the last place one would expect to find a restaurant that is a cross or hybrid between a diner and a bistro....simply put, it was so intriguing that I had to stop! I have to admit, on my first inspection of their menu, it threw me...as simple as it was it never the less came across as complex; featuring such oddities as a varied list of assorted pesto mayo sandwiches on french baguette to gourmet pizzas to home made salsa served with their breakfast. OK, being skeptical by nature and there only being one other customer in the place I decided to play it safe and give their Buddy cheese burger a shot.... here's the kicker...when it arrived from behind, what can only be described as 'the kitchen in your face', I found my self tingling with delight at the site and smell of what was presented before me. The burger was in a word... magnificent... the fries, after speaking with the owners/cooks/servers where cut for the order on demand..and yes delicious!...but I digress... the burger was simply excellent, to use a few adjectives like juicy or tasty would be an injustice...one has to experience this hamburger; they place this 'buddy burger topping' on top that simply sends the already complex tastes of their home made patties in to the taste bud stratosphere. But that is not all, they are using the softest whole wheat bun I have ever had and all their ingredients, from their burger sauce to their red onions are fresh and prepared right in front of you. The presentation with the fresh fruit, cozy and very casual atmosphere simply made my day. This place is worth checking out. I'll definitely be back!

I work in the area of Buddy's Place and a few months ago new owners took over this establishment. We would all always go to Buddy's place before it was taken over. The owners were professional chefs and the food, service and menu was AMAZING!!! They had buffet lunches and were so busy we would sometimes have to line outside of the building. There is about 20 of us from the surrounding offices that were regular customers and we were all quite dissapointed when the previous owners had to sell due to medical problems.

Well we all tried out the new Buddy's place as soon as it opened, only to be left with disapointment. Every single person has ALL vowed never to go back to this place. People were experincing such horrible food quality it was disgusting. A few problems that come to mind are as follows...they were never open when they stated they would be, didn't have the supplies to prepare the meals that were on their menu, and the food quality....ha, burnt grill cheeses sandwiches, cold soup (when it wasn't supposed to be), fattiest bacon I personally have ever seen, cheap breakfast sausages, and the list can go on and on. Even when you go in there your not to sure if the cook is someone that walked off the street or what. Also a couple of items that are on the menu are completly over priced!!

I feel quite awful having to list all these problems on here, but I was very shocked that this women before me could even recommend this place. Maybe in the past month they have gotten their act in gear. But unfortunatly the 20+ of us will not be considering this place on our lunch hour.
