24/7 bakery and cafe on the Fraser Street strip. Wide selection of coffees, teas, fruit smoothies, blended and cold drinks. Fresh baked breads, pastries, cakes and pies are replenished daily. Sit in with available WiFi for laptop users or grab a quick bite to go.
Ordered a tuxedo cake the day before pick-up, cost $49. We arrived after the requested time. They didn't have the cake ready, had to wait 15 minutes for the cake. When we had the cake after dinner that night parts of the cake were still frozen. The next day I received a call from the bakery asking me when I was going to come by and pick up the cake, I had to explain to them that we already picked up the cake and I had to wait while they finished decorating the frozen cake.
This neighbourhood bakery and cafe took over another popular bakery, and it picked a great location to open up shop. Other than the monopoly across the street, Fraser Street needed something more fitting, true to the area, and finally they have it.
It has all the common baked goods you'd find at other cafes but it has a much better selection, with sandwiches, wraps, small meals, cakes and even freshly made breads available. I've only managed to wrangle in a few choices, in the end leaving me mixed at times, and happy at others. I've only had the bottled sodas and Cold Iced Mocha here which I found to be pretty good, without being overly sweetened.
Many of their tables fill up fast (inside and the few outside) so I exclusively grab and go.
Servers are usually your token university student types who have yet to be nutured enough in dealing with all kinds of people but they are friendly, prompt and genuinely intent on making sure your you're satisfied. No corporate trite here.
Unique enough to be popular, glad to see it seems to be prospering well. I'm all for supporting local business and I will continue to do so here.
I live near this place, and the main reason I go is because it is open all night. The people, like the other review states, is usually made up of people who are just needing a part time job, and not used to dealing with people. Great place to go anytime of the day for a to go cup of something and a quick bite.
