The Boathouse serves west coast fare in a relaxed atmosphere.
Went there during the dine out Vancouver 07. I had the chowder, steak, and the chocolate mousse for dessert. Food was outstanding, they cooked the steak perfectly. Only complaint I had was their service. Their service was slow... and our server just didn't bother to put any effort. When the food came out, she just left it on our table. It just didn't have any friendly feeling. Where is the love?
This location is definately better than the Richmond location. The service is wonderful, all the servers and hostesses are really nice and friendly. The prices are reasonable and the food's pretty good. I ordered the salmon and it was delicious! And the view from the restaurant is fantastic especially when it's sunset on the beach!
Parking might be a bit tough though if you're not willing to do valet.
It took me quite some time to venture into this great establishment. Had I known it's secrets sooner, I would've ventured in much earlier. The exterior look of the English Bay Boathouse doesn't do it justice, but the interior is well decorated and the ambiance is what you would expect. The appies were great, and I had the pleasure of ordering the Wild & Fresh BC Pepper Seared Halibut. A pure delight and prepared to a perfection. The service was remarkably efficient and very pleasing. All and all, I suggest to everyone I know to go experience the Boathouse and enjoy!
Quick plus, the valet parking was a great surprise considering the restaurants beachside location. No hassle!
I enjoyed everything about the restaurant. I went there for a friend's birthday and had a great time. The server was very tentative, the food was great and the relax setting just topped it all off. For a table of 10 girls, they catered to us perfectly. And would definitely go back again. The only complaint in probably parking. But that's a given since it's downtown. It's worth it to valet just so you don't have to look for parking and walk to the restaurant.
My husband and I were visiting Vancouver to celebrate our sons birthday. We came across The Boathouse Restarurant. Our dinner was amazing, we asked our waitress what she would reccoment and we all took her reccomandation we each had something different and we all raved about how good it was. The restaurant was quiet we could have a conversation without shouting to one another and the view was amazing. Our waitress Carolyn D was exceptional, she was knowledgeable and very friendly in an easy going way. When we get back to this part of town we will definately have dinner here again.
This was a really nice place to eat. The food was great and the service over all was friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant. I got my moneys worth for my meal and left satisfied. I will return.
My Boyfriend and I decided to try the boathouse again to try and recapture the great time we had there a few years past. We were greeted at our table by our waiter, who was overly friendly and a bit arrogant. As we weren't ready to order he said he'd be back in a few minutes. 5 minutes later he returns laughing, telling us how he had to give the bill to his "tourist" table and explained to them that servers hate foreigners because they don't tip. 1) That's his own business and shouldnt' be shared with us 2) Because I'm a server I understand his beef, however if I wasn't, I would assume him to be quite rude and totally unprofessional, which he was. The bartender making our drinks seemed pretty uninterested in his job, and sloppily made my long island iced-tea that I had ordered. As an appetizer we ordered the Calamari. It was quite good! The portion was just right, and it was new to dip it in a thai sauce as well as the traditional tzatziki. We then ordered the chilled seafood tower as our entree, thinking that it would be enough as our main, considering it said " serves 3-4. Well we got 6 jumbo prawns ( very yummy), 6 tiny small oysters, 6 steamed mussels ( 2 of which were empty) and some bread croustilles on the side with a nice goat cheese spread. All this ( sigh) for $30! Definetly not worth the price. Our server was ending his shift so he introduced us to our new server, one who clearly needed a wake-up and an attitude adjustment. Needless to say, we won't be returning..p.s. we then went to a pizza joint around the corner for a slice because we were STILL hungry :(
