A rough n' tumble Irish pub nestled in the middle of scenic Gastown. With it's giant flag of Ireland hanging over the stage, and its many Coat-of-arms on the walls, to the rustic wooden layout of the interior, and the live band Killarney every Wed thru Sat; make no mistake, this bar is as Irish as they come.
One of the best pubs I have ever been to. Although it should be noted that the Blarney Stone features a decent-sized dance floor in front of the stage, which is usually packed to the gills with dancers. There's no place for tenderfeet here, once the band starts playing the Irish Jig, it's definitely time to hit the dance floor.
I did not sample any food myself that night I was there but my companions did, and I am just rating from what he said and from what I saw. The service despite the immense number of people that were there that night, was solid and the servers and bartenders were all cheerful.
The drinks flowed steadily through the night and I noticed my wallet wasn't taking too much of a bashing; so the value was solidly average, but the drinks were amazing. But what was even more amazing was the dancing, now I have been to most of the nightclubs in DT Vancouver (Gossip formerly Plush, Au Bar, Tunnel, and Boss formerly ATL just to name a few) and I have not had that much fun dancing in those clubs as I did in the Blarney Stone. The ambiance is just surreal once your inside, but of course you mustn't be of the shy variety if you want to have a good time.
Cheers.
