Tapas house drawing from influences across the globe. Taps feature Belgian beers. Formerly called Stella's.
Burnt prawns, a cornet of cold frites served in a bowl...the only saving grace for Stellas is the service and the great selection of beer. if you want a place to drink and don't care so much about a good dinner go there.
Great beer selection. Past paced and packed every night. Food is very average and that's being generous. Delightful staff. Sit at the bar and have a few. Scott, the bar manager is a really great chat.
This place really is a gem. The food is very good -- lots of options for different palates. The beer is good with a wide range of choices. Alex (the manager)is stunning and really makes everyone feel welcome. Her attentive service is legendary -- she knows what all her regulars like to eat and drink and she keeps a close eye on the ebb and flow of the restaurant.
the beer menu is extensive, i found it very difficult to select a beer, then i remembered i could always have more than one.
The place was packed, somehow our server found a way to manage.
Also, before we got seated, a guy snuck in front of us and got his name on the waitlist, the attentive greeter later asked if we were ahead of him and got us in first.
Food was hit and miss, mostly a hit, only miss was the calamari.
Drink was great, the variety exceptional.
Even though it was extremely busy and somewhat noisy we could have a conversation without the need to yell across the table.
I went there frequently just for their beers. they have the best beer selection in the city. And I’ve never disappointed by their food as well as the service, they have great mussels and Koran BBQ short ribs. The servers are always friendly and knowledgeable with the menu.
Highly recommend to others.
The beerlist seems pretty extensive, but in reality you can easily purchase these at private beer stores and at the BC Liquor Store.
This place has a hopping ambiance, but the food needs alot of work. Go if you don't mind some Belgian brews, but don't go if you are expecting decent grub.
Mussels are sub par, and again if you want decent mussels go to Chambar. Same price range and cleaner room.
I'm not too sure where the last reviewer drank in Belgium, but if you can find me a place in Vancouver that serves all the Belgian trappist ales: Orval, Achel, Westvletern, Westmalle, and Rochefort, then yes, the beer list beats any that you can find in Belgium.
Our server was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the menu & her recommendations were spot on. Even when it began to get busy, the service level did not decline.
The Thai spiced prawns were amazing. Although you only get 3 per portion, they are some of the largest prawns that i've seen served in a restaurant. The Thai chicken curry was also excellent. The other dishes we had were well prepared and tasty. The prices are a little high for what you get, however, it's still cheaper than getting a tasting menu elsewhere.
We will be back!
Nice room, it was very inviting. Great Tapas, great selection of import bottle beer, great atmosphere. Service was decent. Worth a repeat visit. Downside, I wanted to order take-out and apparently this is not possible. Too bad.
Our server was great (as was the rest of the staff that dropped by) including chasing me to my car in the pouring rain after I left my credit card. Helpful in making selections as well.
The food was lukewarm when it arrived, particularly the duck duo. It is pre-prepared, as it arrived quite quickly (which was good), but should be served a little hotter. We had the tuna, duck, Korean ribs and beet salad. The salad and tuna were very good but the duck duo was disappointing (not warm enough and dry tasting). The beer and wine selections are great and everything is reasonably priced. I would go back for the service and ambience and ask the server for more advice on what's really good.
Great spot on the Drive to chill but the menu is pretty limited. The menu is caught in between tapas and mains and is still trying to figure out what it should be. Recommend to have one of their import bottles of beer, but avoid the food.
Okay, I must admit I went here because I was in the neighbourhood and had heard they had Strongbow on tap. Silly reason maybe, but since I left England...well, I really have been missing the stuff. Prior to going, I didn't know much about the place, but aside from the ICY COLD, DELICIOUS Strongbow (ahhhh), my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Nice looking, inviting room - loved the stone walls and timber everywhere, but - HA - I guess that's the limey in me... And although we hadn't planned on eating, the women at the next table INSISTED we try the 'Duck Duo' and they were spot on; it was so good, we ended up getting another one after we'd devoured the first! We also tried the Ahi tuna (perfectly cooked and oh, so delicious. We both agreed, we LOVED the wasabi thing going on there...). The beef tacos (which were my handsdown favourite) most definitely were, to quote my dear companion, "Super snacky!".
Our servers (so many people running food!) were all genuinely friendly and although the place was hopping, we never lacked for anything.
We'll DEFINITELY be back!
First heard about this place on City Cooks and had to try it. We were very impressed and can't wait to go again. The menu is extremely well priced and has something to please everyone. The mussels were delicious and the endive salad was unforgettable.
